Bobrovsky came out against the padding or lack there of around the arm area like Elliott did.

These are becoming my new favorite threads on the main forums because of how triggered people get.

The fake tough guys calling the goalies wimps are hysterical. They would piss their pants if they had to face a 100 mph slapshot.

My brother was a ringer of a goalie in our neighborhood for street hockey. I wish my parents could've afforded ice hockey goalie pads because he could've possibly played at college level but they couldn't. Regardless he played with a plastic mask, a baseball glove and leg pads. Sometimes he had shoulder pads but I don't think he ever had a blocker or chest protector. And we usually used a ball, not a puck and a mix of wooden sticks and aluminum. After every game his body was still usually covered in bruises. Now imagine professional athletes with modern carbon nanofiber sticks cranking real rubber pucks at you at about 100mph. Even with the padding before the change I'm sure they're still got their share of bruises but now it's probably a nightmare.

Those are fun times man. Your bro would be better then what the flyers have now with no pads LOL.

He probably would! When we got a little older this guy from a neighboring fire department would get together a team of ringers from local high schools to try and beat our motley team but we never lost and it pissed him off SO BAD. We had at least three fantastic forwards and my bro in the pipes. I laughed when I discovered one of the guys on the other team was the best guy on my youth hockey team back when I was in 8th grade. He played for the best local high school team along with half the other team. And my brother still kept stoning him without pads for half his body. They eventually realized his lack of protection and eased up on him. My brother was usually a gentle giant but in the pipes he had the competitive fire of Hextall and Roy. He was out to prove he wasn't just "the fat kid". Meanwhile I couldn't prove I wasn't just "the skinny asthmatic kid".

Awesome love reading the stories. Playing hockey is a great thing no matter what level.

What level did you play Hatch?
I played for the richmond sockeyes 1987 and 1988. Won the centennial cup in 1987 with Orland Kurtenbach as our coach and we lost the finals in 88 to an awesome vernon lakers team in 5. Greatest time of my life and we were wild man HAHAHAHA. Police escorts on the road and we were f***in good. I think there is still write ups on the the net when we won in Humbolt to win it all.

Vancouver fans sending death threat to Mike Matheson after he body-slammed one of their prospects. But I thought only Philly fans were classless? :sarcasm:
I think the better way to show your disgust with a player who does something awful, loathsome and vile is to mail them a box of cow shit. Now if you'll excuse me I'm headed to the post office to send a large package out to Mississauga.

Look like we have a new analyst

I remembering watching him do NCAA hockey color commentary. Remember he was a pretty affable fellow; didn't seem to have much teeth. Which works perfectly for the network.

I have this vague recollection he'd trot out an analytics snippet once in a blue moon. Just small stuff. I think that was him anyway.

Of all topics for people to triggered over... why this?

I don't get the cause of outrage.
