I hope he's not just getting our hopes up in terms of what kind of deal it is. I feel like we've all spent the summer recalibrating our expectations to him signing a bridge or medium term deal that takes him to UFA at a young age.

A fair long term deal is the perfect scenario. Almost seems too good to be true.

It's not really clear how long ago they planned it though. It was first reported last week.

It was sarcasm, but it shouldn't be too hard to get him signed even if it means overplaying by a little. We really can't afford to start the year with him not on the ice. Both sides need to suck up their pride a bit and get a deal done.

I think Sakic has done a great job over the past 2 seasons.
