Great news. Holland is finally trimming the real fat.

I think this will mean that at least one of Sheahan or Glendening is permanently on the roster.

Counting everyone on IR, there are 18 forwards on the roster now. If they ever get a full roster in a month when Weiss comes back, Jurco will be sent down, Eaves and Emmerton could be waived again and then that leaves a spot for one of Sheahan or Glendening.

Or, there could be more injuries and that will all be moot/ they might surprise and waive Bert or Cleary or get them to agree to be placed on IR.

I wonder if any of these teams picks him up. I can understand not wanting to trade for him so if this is Holland's way of giving him away for free, good riddance Sammy. I will drive him to the airport!

It seems very likely to me that Emmerton and Eaves would be waived once again if it ever comes to that. Glendening is a wild card as he was brought up to play center. If Z, Pavs, Weiss, Helm, Andy and Sheahan are all healthy you no longer need Glendening to play center.

However Glendening has proven himself to be a valuable 4th liner. With that being the case I can see keeping him up and waiving Eaves.

I doubt Holland is willing to cut bait with Cleary just yet. With both Bert and Kindl being healthy scratches I think those two are the most likely to get moved/waived when the time comes. With that being said Kindl benefits somewhat from Kenneh being scurred of bringing up a good young d-man like Marchenko to fill a roster spot full time. I guess you could roll with 6 d-men and have Marchenko be your injury call up.

My take: watch the scratch list. Sammy was a healthy scratch all the time. Kindl is becoming a regular in the press box. If Bert becomes a regular in the press box then it's just a matter of time until they are broomed from the roster.

Kindl has only missed four games so far this season. That is half as many as Tatar and hardly becoming a regular in the press box as of yet.

The cap is calculated on a day-to-day basis. I believe his cap the rest of the season is under $1.5 million and that is what a team would be on the hook for. It wouldn't make sense for his entire $3 million cap hit to count now that over half the season has been played.

I think Kindl would have some trade value but we won't waive a defenceman this year anyway.

Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Alfredsson, Franzen, Weiss, Helm, Abdelkader, Nyquist, Andersson, Tatar, Miller, Bertuzzi, Cleary, Eaves.

So there's 14 forwards. If we by miracle happen to have them all healthy at the same time, I think the next move they do is to waive Eaves again and keep Glen or Sheahan up. After that I don't think we'll see any more movement than injury callups or black aces.

their is a 0% chance KH moves in any capacity a dman without getting one in return, it is in fact true, you can never hae too many dmen comes playoffish time

sammy, bert, eaves, emmeron, andersson, tootoo coul alland will likely all be shopped for(inorder of importance to KH)

1. cap relief
2. roster relief
3. a depth dman
4. additional scoring

His cap hit wouldn't change regardless of how much money he is owed.

Then why is it you can get players who have a higher cap hit at the trade deadline that would normally put you over the limit? I'm pretty sure the cap hit would be less.

no one is going to claim him. jokinen went thought last year (yeah he had extra year on his deal but still), klesla went through etc

he's been benched so AHL callups can play, makes 3 mil this year and can't get ice-time on a borderline playoff team.

seriously, no one is going to take him.

99.9% sure of that.

Not so sure Andersson is guaranteed a spot anymore.

You may be right, I'm certainly no cap expert.

It's not like he was playing or anything. Doesn't save much cap wise. A step in the right direction though.

Only saves 100K (for whole year) since he is 35+. Even less now that more than half the season is gone.

It's probably for the roster spot.
