I was just looking at McDavid's stats and noticed that all of his goals that were not empty netters came against teams in the bottom 10 in GAA.

I would have loved to have seen McDavid break into Sid's 19 year old PP crazy easier Eastern Conference NHL. :)

He's good for 1 or 2 4+ point games a year typically.

Crosby has had 23 4 point nights in his career.

3 in 2005-2006, 4 in 2006-2007, 1 in 2007-2008, 5 in 2008-2009, 1 in 2009-2010, 2 in 2010-11, 3 in 2011-2012, 1 in 2013-2014, 1 in 2014-2015 and 2 in 2015-2016.

It almost certainly won't. McDavid will score more points than he has been in the last little stretch and Crosby will go through a slow spell at some point as well.

That's just how the world works.

EDM's next five: Sharks, Kings, Canucks, Jackets, Bruins.

I hope you're correct but I think he will be overtaken in the next week or two.

Why is Crosby going to go through a cold spell? His coldest spell so far this year is right now, where he "only" has 5 points in 5 games. His cold spells are going a PPG over a 5 game sequence or so, his hot spells are him having a 1.5 PPG over like 10 games. He has done that twice so far this year, go on a 1.5 PPG for a stretch of about 10 games and then go to about a PPG for 5 games (11 points in the first 8 games of the season, 5 points in the next 5 games, 15 points in the next 9 games and then 5 points in the next 5 games).

Well Mc David is cooling of quite a bit.
I thik both Crosby and Malikn will pass Mc David rather sonner later. The coronation of Mc David certainly was a bit premature.

Not that I disagree re: Crosby, and maybe this is just my perception, but it seems like when McDavid gets points, they seem to come in bunches. 0 points, 0 points, 3 or 4 points. I think, at worst, he's a top 5 offensive player in the NHL in his second season. That's not really anything to sneer at.

Crosby had 4 in 09-10 including two 5 point nights

1 in 2012/13 too, so in recent years, just as I said- 1 or 2 a year.

I thought Mcdavid was running away with the Calder? Looks like Malkin, Crosby and Tarasenko will overtake him

Because he's currently on a 109 points pace and he hasnt done that over a full season since 2010.

I'm not saying it's impossible but the odds are against it.

Well he didn't play a full season in 10-11, 11-12 or 12-13 and was shackled with an incompetent coach for 14-15 and half of 15-16. He had a pace of 107 points in 13-14 and has 102 points in 79 games under Sullivan (pace of 106 points). What he's doing right now is right along those two. What he's doing right now is basically exactly what he did in 2013-2014 in terms of points. He's a 105-110 point player over a full season, what he's doing right now falls in that range.

I would say Crosby will win it - he's on a better team and has much more to work with than Lucic.

McDavid's linemates at ES are miles ahead of Crosby's linemates. If Crosby wins the scoring title, it will be because he's a better offensive player than McDavid, not because he has more help.

He's shooting percentage is ridiculous this year. He's having one of those years. On the other end, if only McDavid could cash in on all the chances he gets every game. Yeesh.

Yeah and if only Sids linemates cashed in more often. Yeesh.
