how is murray overrated when you all want to start casey "domestic abuse" desmith and trade murray?
this is the correct answerMaybe play better defense in front of him?
nothing. i would rather keep Murray and see what happens. Why is every Pens player so injury prone (other than Kessel)?
Anyways Pens fans what do u want from CGY?
at least you got the first part rightPen fans will hate my response
but Murray is signed for one more year and if he has lost his mojo we have a 3.75 back up goalie next year and we will need to sign someone else
i almost want to report this for how insultingly bad it is for the PensPIT: Murray and Brassard
for
STL: Allen and Maroon
Murray was always overrated on here. Played for a powerhouse team, had help from Fleury throughout the season and for half a playoff run. He's an average goalie that played on a great team and got hot at the right time.
Pens fans that say it's Pittsburgh's defensive issues, how come DeSmith is putting up much better numbers?
oh I'm sure you would. i would hope the Pens wouldn't.I'd be more than willing to send Lundqvist for Murray if Rutherford can cap crunch.
It's funny how goaltending works out. Everyone would have laughed at the Pens if they traded Murray then instead of Fleury, and now you're right, it shows that was the right move, unless Murray bounces back of course. Pens fans would have been calling for heads to roll had they traded Murray and retained Fleury at that time.Should have moved him when his value was high and retained Fleury. It’s near impossible to move out a goaltender playing poorly unless they roll the dice on another tender straight up like Allen

He hasn't been the same since his father, who he was super close with, passed away.
Calgary has Hamonic, the guy who's channeled the same thing into something very positive here for us. Like, grace of God type positive in Calgary. People forget that these guys are still super young men and this'll have an impact.
That all being said, a Murray + Brassard trade for Calgary makes a lot of sense. Calgary could use a goalie who's played at the highest level, and a depth centre/wing.
Where do the trade start from our standpoint? I'd prefer futures over current roster, because it looks like we have a shot to make some noise here.
Pittsburgh is in the same boat, even more all in than we are by a significant margin. It almost has to be currents.
If Quick were to go to the Pens, it would cost Kessel +! So not gonna happen. If you trade a goaltender that's won two Cups, you have to get back a goaltender who's won two Cups. Thus, the perfect trade is Murray for Quick
In all seriousness, it does seem to me to make some sense. Quick gets injured as often as Murray, but at least the Pens could count on him not having issues "between the ears" (as Friedman puts it) when he is healthy. Also, being signed for 4 more years, until he's 35, may not bother Pittsburgh because that'll carry them through the remaining productive years of their stars.
As for LA, they'd save $2M in cap space and could tolerate Murray struggling or being injured because Cal Petersen would be the #1 or at least #1b. I'm not sure which team would need to add, so maybe that's an indication that a straight swap would be fair... though Pittsburgh may have to thrown in, say, upcoming UFA Riley Sheahan ($2.1M AAV) as a cap dump to balance the numbers.
Not gonna happen. Murray is the 2nd most brittle goalie around to #1 Michael "Mr Brittle" Neurvirth! If you are gonna be a main stay #1 goalie in the NHL for any team, you have to be capable of playing regularly 50-65 games a season. Murray can barely breath to play 50 games in a season! Quite frankly he's still a raw goalie(glove mechanics and angling can be awful, he doesn't always use his size to his advantage, and his flaws are masked by the Pens strong offensive attack). His worst enemy is his genetics. The guy is still young and he already has sustained so many injuries that amount to more than what the average goalie goes through in their whole career! He has the talent that got him to the NHL, but he doesn't have the durability of being a true #1 goalie.I can see Murray bouncing back... if they address the issues with their defense.
More like Muzzin+Toffoli for Kessel+!Muzzin and Toffoli for Kessel?
He'll break his back before he bounces back! He'll bounce back.
no really are you lost? did Matt Murray key your car or something? He'll break his back before he bounces back!
Rutherford flat out shot this down today:
Yohe: Jim Rutherford isn't worried about Matt Murray ... yet...
The "soft rumors" may be "if Murray doesn't figure his stuff out, the Penguins may do something after the season".
Kessel is just a scoring winger. He doesn't play a 2-way game. Kings don't need a younger Kovalchuk type. If Kessel doesn't have a good setup center, then his numbers easily drop!are you lost?

Nope! I have followed NHL goalies almost religiously for decades. Based off of what I seen over the years, Murray is on a path to end with a short career because of the injuries he has sustained so far. All the injuries are derailing his development to become a consistent NHL goalie. GMJR was a goalie himself, so he's gonna have a little more patience than most GM's. But at some point, sooner rather than later, there becomes a turning point that if Murray continues to struggle mentally and physically, then you have to cut ties. The Pens or another team need a goalie that can withstand the rigors of the regular season and not just flip the switch and play great in the playoffs. Using a Star Wars Force reference, Murray's long term projection is clouded.no really are you lost? did Matt Murray key your car or something?
Nope. Those Leaf's teams were not an offensive disaster like the Kings are now! Kings philosophy are all their players have to put in hard work and play a 2-way game. As good as Kessel's offense can be, he's a terrible fit for the Kings!Did you miss Kessel's time in Toronto?
