My biggest issue is that he's proven to be injury prone.
He's a major injury away from approaching DiPietro level.

Talbot + pick for him. Struggling goalie for struggling goalie.

Pittsburgh would be extremely stupid to trade him and would be a knee jerk reaction. Who would we get as our starter? DeSmith is not the guy, Jarry? maybe, but he needs more development.
The guy is a year removed from back to back cups AS A ROOKIE. He just needs to build his confidence back and the team needs to play better in front of him.
Why is every Pens player so injury prone (other than Kessel)?
Anyways Pens fans what do u want from CGY?

Murray has been too inconsistant to command that return sorry. I would hesitate to trade Hanifin for Gibson or Vasilevsky let alone Murray.Given the nature of this board, allow me to crush your dreams:
If you want Murray, he's not going to come cheap. He's just not. Don't care what this season has been for him. Still a two-time Cup winning goalie and he's 23. He's not coming cheap.
Hanafin or don't bother. Serious.
Murray was always overrated on here. Played for a powerhouse team, had help from Fleury throughout the season and for half a playoff run. He's an average goalie that played on a great team and got hot at the right time.
Pens fans that say it's Pittsburgh's defensive issues, how come DeSmith is putting up much better numbers?
Man, his speculation just keeps getting more confusing. This one doesn't even make sense.
Right in the rumour, he explains that there's no quality goaltending available. So what on earth would the Penguins be doing trading their best bet at "quality goaltending" away? He may be injured, and may not have been playing up to his previous standard...but if they move him, what exactly are they accomplishing? Who is playing goal for them then? That just digs them an even deeper hole, shooting them directly into a goaltender-needy state, in a market that Friedman himself suggests is pretty much totally barren.
Becuase you're looking at a 15 game sample size and DeSmith's overall numbers are inflated by an unsustainably good PKing save%. The team has also been dramatically worse in front of Murray than they have been in front of DeSmith.
Murray hasn't been good this year and he struggled last year, but this website once again goes stupid hyperbolic when it comes to evaluating players.
Right, but it doesn’t matter who the goalie is - if they have back-to-back disappointing seasons like Murray has had so far, their value is going to take a huge hit.
