Really, you are trying to compare Boychuk to Martin regarding being a true Islander who bleeds blue and orange? seriously?

he would still be in Toronto if Lou didn’t come to Long Island . Martin chose to leave here the first time and you can not find even one HF poster who would have said “ he’ll be back in the middle of his contract. “

You posted “ sometimes loyalty is more important than the numbers “ . Now that certainly was not Matt Martin 4 years ago. Boychuk chose to sign a new contract here when not many or even any UFA players in there prime would have done that . I get that we drafted Martin and our homegrown kids always hold that extra special spot in our hearts but Boychuk is every bit a New York Islander. Martin was here for 6 seasons before he decided to leave. This was just Boychuks 6th season with us. Seems pretty even to me . Martin leaves it all on the ice every game .Boychuk leaves it all on the ice every game. I am leaving it at that . Happy Friday

Martin signed the best deal offered to him. That's his choice as a UFA. He got lucky how it played out in the end though.

I am all for one last hurrah for the ID line, all of their contracts will be done in a year or 2. Cizikas has 2 years left. He may be moved in the last year where Isles will need cap space. I don't see this line going on for much longer, one more year would be great. They have given their all for the Isles. Really they are the ID of the Isles, and the most dependable line game in game out. They never seem to have a bad game.

One minor correction, Zeeker only has one more year to UFA, it’s Clutter who has two more years. But your overall point stands, they can sign Martin for another year and try to move Clutter when he’s only got one yr left on his contract.

FYI, Clutterbuck's caphit if bought-out after this season. So even if he can't be moved, buying out his last year is not too onerous in-of-itself. That of course would depend on what happens with other players though.

Ah so I'm half right. Good to know I'm not making things up

You're definitely not going crazy about this one. ;)

I think Eric Nystrom became upset and gave a rant on Twitter at some point when the change was originally announced. It was shortly after that the decision was reversed I think.

Edit: Found it.
