Not only the take-down, but the Matheson stuck his stick in between EP's legs, had EP's legs in a vulnerable position, and used that leverage to take the legs out. Essentially a slewfoot using his stick.

He never saw anything but numbers, and instead of slowing dow he accelerated into the contact. It was a REALLY bad hit, they don't come much worse.
