Jukurit (Kokkonen/Rindell) down 4-0 after the 1st.
Assat (Hirvonen) down 2-1 after the 1st.
HPK (Rasanen) up 1-0, but I dont think he's playing? Zzzzzzz.
Karpat (Niemela) starts at 11am.
Jr20 Karpat (Loponen) is down 6-2 in the 3rd period.

No points for anyone (except Amirov) yet.

I just want to say I appreciate everyone here that gives updates on our prospects over seas. Really helps get me informed.

maybe it’s just me but i think it might be over for Rasannen. What’s the best case he’s a serviceable bottom pairing guy? At this point I don’t think that will be with the Leafs if he does make it to the NHL.

Serviceable bottom pairing guy & penalty killer is best case scenario. His rel numbers improved slightly from last week with slightly easier zone starts.

Not sure sure why he's not playing today, but the further this season keeps going without him showing any semblance of NHL talent, the worse his chances of hitting that insanely low ceiling. Yay Hunter fridges!!

There is something off here. Hirvonen had an average of 32 seconds of ice time per game, and managed 2 points out of it, while having 0% OZ starts?

It's the difference from the week before. His 3 games played last week raised his season ATOI 32 seconds. His zone starts stayed identical.

Rasanen's a dumpster fire, probably about time to write him off at this point. But man, we've got some really respectable Finnish dmen in the system; Niemela, Kokkonen and Rindell have all been monsters in their own right. That's pretty exciting to see

I'm including Rasanen in this month's update, but he will out of my legit prospects next month if he doesn't improve. Kara was already removed.

Hey I don't use stats I can't calculate:laugh:
Seriously though, how do you calculate it? I looked the other day and couldn't figure it out.

((Team CF - Players CF) / ((Team CF - Players CF) + Team CA - Players CA)))*100 = Team Without Player CF%

Players CF% - Team Without Player CF% = Rel.CF%

Here's Kokkonen for an example:

Jukurit CF - 520
Jukurit CA - 658
Kokkonen CF - 202
Kokkonen CA - 212
Kokkonen CF% - 48.8%

((520 - 202) / ((520 - 202) + (658 - 212)))*100 = 41.8%

48.8% - 41.8% = 7.2%

His rel.CF% is 7.2%

I listened to Steve Kournianos' review of the Leafs draft on the draft Analyst podcast today. Here is the link for those interested.

For those that don't want to sit through the 43 minutes, I'll give a quick summary.

1. He had Amirov in the 6-7 range and thought he was the BPA for us at 15. Says he is a high end player that has all the tools. Thinks he will be a great addition to an already stacked top 6 for us one day.

2. Says Hirvonen is not physical at all which I'm not sure I agree with as a lot of the reports I read says he isn't afraid to engage physically and battle for pucks. Says he is a very smart player with and without the puck and is a really good playmaker. Good pick at that spot.

3. Niemela- calls him more of an offensive guy which again I don't really agree with. I thought he's known more for his defensive acumen. Says he has great transition ability, clean zone exits and entries, poised under pressure and good offensive instincts. Great passer, great skater and shoots the puck a lot. Uses his stick to break up plays instead of using the body.

4. Akhtyamov- says he's an unorthodox goalie that doesn't look like your conventional butterfly goalie and doesn't see the tools to be an NHL goalie. I don't think he realizes that he is more of a hybrid goalie that has a bit of old school to his game. Says he is very quick and athletic. Great stats at every level. Project pick.

5. Villeneuve- good offensive and defensive instincts. Big point producer. Thinks a lot of GMs were pleased with how he had to make up for Poirer going on adventures all the time. Skating needs a lot of work and that's likely why he dropped but a good pick in the 4th.

6. Likes the Miettinen and Ovchinnikov picks. High end producers wherever they play and smart players. Had them ranked much higher than where we got them.

7. Rindell- plays like a 4th forward. Great offensive skills. Excellent skating ability and speed. Needs a lot of work on defense.

8. Says the Miller, Fusco, Schingoethe and Tverberg picks were among the better players in their respective leagues. He really likes Miller. Thinks he's an amazing playmaker.

Overall with having 12 picks total, he thinks the Leafs did well and swung for the fences on every pick with high end skill and smarts but most picks are undersized. Thinks that the odds of us turning out a few solid NHLers with who we drafted with as many picks we had as high.

Yeah I don't agree that Hirvonen isn't a physical player. He plays in the corners and front of the net.
Niemela one also isn't accurate. He is more of a defensive d man then an offensive one, but does have good tools offensively.

I can see Niemela developing into a Brodie type d man if all goes well. A guy that plays well defensively disrupting plays, great in transition and can add 30-35 pts. Even sub in on the PP with injuries. Lets hope!

I agree that Akhtyamov is a project but I disagree with his assessment of his play style and projecting his skillset. Just because he isn't your typical cookie cutter cut out that we are used to seeing with all butterfly goalies coming up through the younger age groups doesn't mean his style won't work in the NHL. Thomas, Quick are a couple examples. Sometimes unorthodox is a good thing because it is unpredictable for the shooters. I know I've played against standup or unorthodox goalies and our shooters can't figure out how to beat them.

Another positive is he is still a close to break even possession player on a bad team. He and Kokkonen are still standing out depite what's around them. Now Kokkonen is a way better prospect, but still it's good to see Rindell looking good.
I wasn't a huge fan picking Rindell, but he's growing on me.
Rindell's also tied for 7th in the Liiga for most points by a defensemen.....and he's the 2nd youngest D in the top 10, behind only Heinola (WPG 1st rounder).

He's also up there with names like Valimaki (1st rd), Laaksonen (3rd rd), Saarijarvi (3rd rd), etc. Can't ask for much more from a 6th rounder at this point.

Hirvonen getting a bit to much hate on the prospect boards. Really it's a few habs fans that are oddly annoyed about him.

He has had a D+1 season similar to Grundstrom who we were all excited for in 2017. Differnt type of player but should be similar role as a 3rd line support player (center or winger)

Hirvonen and Hallinder give us 2 great shots at adding a good 3C to replace kerfoot in a year or two

Certain Hab fans got their panties all knotted up because Hirvonen was played ahead of their precious Kotkaneimi.
