I agree, but that’s a tall order and we lose Gio, we lose useful Brodie , Andy can pick up some of that slack.Valimaki will eventually replace Gio on the left side.

He is a better and more valuable player then Duchene but not by much. Saying he is a far superior player is a stretch. That's all fine and dandy, but we are talking about Stone here, who is the far superior player. By that virtue you can expect his return to be better, given the bidding war that will ensure.
No kidding nothing has been learned by some posters.Oh, but Stone's better and now there's less bidders/bidding war, etc... so get ready with your top 2 prospects and 2 1sts. It's like nothing has been learned in the last few hours.
Ottawa needs to find another sucker because Winnipeg is not getting bent over by them for a rental.

There is no chance a rental Stone returns 2 top prospects, let alone 2 firsts. That should be the lesson everyone has learned.
Now they're B prospects are they?Duchene just returned two 1sts (or at least potentially two 1sts) and two B level prospects.
Stone is the better player and should garner a higher return. McKenzie is on record saying he's the most valuable player available at the deadline.
Not out of the realm of possibility to think he could return something like one top prospect, one B prospect, 1st, conditional 1st.

Yeah he definitely is, especially considering the Winnipeg element. He is a better and more valuable player then Duchene but not by much. Saying he is a far superior player is a stretch.

I think we disagree on what a "far superior player" means.Yeah he definitely is, especially considering the Winnipeg element.
No it's not. It's
Senyshyn, who is tracking to bust status
Zboril, who is tracking to bust status
Vaakanainen who is a good prospect
Very late 1st
That ain't a signed Stone, friend.
Yes in all likelihood Stone will return more. However, there will still be zero grade A prospects involved. That's all fine and dandy, but we are talking about Stone here, who is the far superior player. By that virtue you can expect his return to be better, given the bidding war that will ensure.

from an org POV: Niku and Vesalainen from WPG. not sure if Roslovic is considered a prospect anymoreWho are Winnipeg and Calgary's grade-A prospects?
at this point Ottawa doesn't give a damn lol, the team just needs to get better, they aren't contenders anytime soon, it's irrelevant who they make better.Ottawa doesn't like to trade within the division so chances are he goes west to the jets or preds. id say the darkhorse could be the blues who could put a very appetizing package together,
Samberg is a grade A prospect too, I think.from an org POV: Niku and Vesalainen from WPG. not sure if Roslovic is considered a prospect anymore
Mark Stone has quickly gone from being one of the most underrated players in the league to one of the most overrated. He's turning down 8 figure contracts now? Outrageous. Christ sake this guy's career high is 64pts and he has never had a 30 goal season. He's probable to break both of those in this his now 7th year in the league.
Stone will likely return more and is more valueable than Duchene, but not by a significant amount. Then taking into consideration that C's are generally more valuable than wingers, expecting twice the value for Stone isnt very realisic.
One of Roslovic, Vesalainen or Niku maybe be involved if WPG gets him, but to expect 2 of them and 2 1sts is setting yourself up for major dissapointment. I would think if one if them is involved, Chevy may have an extension in place and you see Perreault or Kulikov in the return as well.
McKenzie: - Mark Stone Mega-Thread Pt. 2 - Jets pursuing Stone, Ottawa working on contract extension really wasn't hard to findWho is expecting that? Never seen anyone suggest this.

Very well said. There was a time when Patrice Bergeron was talked about this way. Not enough points. Not elite. 2nd line player. We didn't understand. The people who watched him every day would say he was worth every bit as much as the elite of the elite players in the NHL. Now everyone agrees with that characterization. The proliferation of analytics and our understanding of possession and shot share paints players like Bergeron in the right light. Or at least a more accurate one. Mark Stone is the same kind of player. Yah, he has never scored 50 goals, but he absolutely carries his teammates to the offensive zone. He's a total line driver and nothing happens on his side of the ice unless he's the one doing it. Imagine him playing with another guy like that? Good god, i need a towel. He is every bit the elite player Ottawa fans are saying he is. There hasn't been a player this good available on deadline day for years. The only thing keeping his value down is that the Sens only own his value for 22 more games.
