Goals?

Plus we all know he's not been as good as last year event of he has a few more secondary assists per game.

If you ran the club we would be 0-82

Oh okay, we all know he's not as good. Maybe because he's not playing with the league MVP? Might have something to do with this huge sophomore slump where he has more points and more shots on goal.

This is right up there with the ''Adam Henrique has more goals than Nico'' post from about a month ago when that was the case.

New Jersey(No Fanz!)
last year: 0.47 ppg, 1.35 shots/game, 46.6 CF%
this year: 0.55 ppg, 1.76 shots/game, 48.8 CF%

"sophomore slump"

And also, that's with him MISSING 14 GAMES!!

"Sophomore Slump", indeed.

And if you ran the club, we'd be in Kansas City. :skeptic:

Didn’t Dr Seuss write that book? Oh yes here it is

If I ran the club they’d play in a tub
And Nico would skate with the puck
The fans in the stands would sit on their hands
While the coaching, defense, and goaltending suck.

Thanks I’m available for ghostwriting and commission pieces as well.

goal and assist today

20 points in 34 games. Thats nearly a 50 point pace over a full season. Reminder that this kid is still 20 years old until July.

"sophomore slump"

Bratt is definitely a core piece. I wouldn't be surprised if next year was his real coming out party, he thinks the game at to high of a level in the offensive zone where he seems to elude defenders and always make the correct pass.

I feel that he struggles in the transition game in the neutral zone and if he can improve there, he will be a more reliable player. Just my take.

There's your "Goals", Mr. Hot Take man.

Did it lead to a Devils win? Nope.

Gee...maybe that Nico guy could stand to score a few himself? That would help. o_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

Why don't you get on HIS case? :thumbd:

Query: Why not try Bratt at center? He is the most creative player we have. Very good with the puck on his stick, at finding open ice, evading defenders, distributing the puck.

Only guy on our team elusive as Barzal and who defenders have to back off, lest he outskate them.

Wouldn’t that make him outstanding in center ice, where all of those qualities matter the most?

Also wouldn’t you like to see him with space at the top of the diamond on the power play, or on one of the points, instead of Butcher? He’s so much more creative.

I think DD unintentionally made salient observation (something about blind squirrels :sarcasm:) in that the team could use a pure goal scorer or two to compliment Palms. I think Bratt might be more of a playmaking winger than goal scorer although he does have a pretty decent shot when he uses it. On pace for 50ish points in a full season is definitely one of the few bright spots this season. Kid is a legit top 6 winger for sure. Can’t wat to get him back on the pk too once the staff starts to trust his conditioning has also improved.

Well come on now, Nico has 13 goals in 44 games, Bratt before today had 3 in 33. While the hot take of Bratt being a dissapointment cause he wasn't scoring goals was off base he really does need to pick up actual goalscoring and not be completely totally one-dimensional. Even Scott Gomez usually got 15-20 a year.

Bratt so far isn't much of a goal scorer going back his small sample size. Nico outshoots him by a wide margin and I wouldn't consider him much of a natural goal scorer either and more of a playmaker. If Bratt/Nico/Zacha don't project to be natural goal scorers and more assist heavy, we still need to find someone to put the puck in the net on the regular like Hall/Palms do. Which means one of those three needs to start shooting more or we're gonna have to look for a young guy in the draft who is shoot first. Maybe Boqvist is the answer?

And your point being?

bratt doesnt have anything near the talent level gomez benefited from.

bratt is on a team that resembles what gomez went to. stick bratt on any decent team and he would be putting up very good numbers. lets keep bashing the young guns like butch and bratt while we surround them with stafford, rooney, JQ, seney, etc etc etc.......

injuries might have something to do with it.

not trying to bash those guys (i think stafford is a great piece) but they are what they are. we are headed in the right direction and it doesnt matter if we like it or not.... bratt will be a part of it. hes no bergfors thats for sure.

Scott Gomez scored 20 goals in a season one time in his career. He also had one season where he averaged 20 goals/82 games.
