FIRST OF ALL LUCIC IS OWED 4.5 MILLION A YEAR IN REAL MONEY .

I don't know if you notice but rebuilding teams have tons of cap space so real dollars matters and no one knows how long a rebuild can take . Last is why would a rebuilding team have to keep him for all 5 years . His last 3 years pays him a total of 4 million , 5 million and 4 million
1. he isn't owed 4.5 million a year in "real" money in any way, shape or form
2. what the hell is "real" money?
3. he's owed an average of 5.4 million dollars of total salary over the next 5 seasons.

Oilers should hang onto him and hope for a bit of a Dustin Brown bounce back. Than next year with a higher cap and 4 years left he will be more palatable to opposing teams...still likely stuck with him though

Oilers got robbed at gun point on that trade! It is the worst trade in the NHL in the modern Cap era. Just hilarious.

This can't be serious it has to be a troll job. Don't know how mods allow crap like this.

Lucic isn’t cutting it on Draisaitl’s wing. We have Puljujarvi/Rieder on the right but no one else on the left. The issue is that we can’t trade for a winger without dumping Lucic’s contract. If we add significantly to him what kind of wingers could we get? Maybe:

Lucic, Yamamoto, 2019 protected 1st for Krieder?

Lucic, 2019 protected 1st for Nyquist?
Pretty sure the last two teams that Lucic would waive for, Are rebuilding teams like the Red Wings and Rangers. Besides Luc still has 5 x 6 left on his deal. Detroit isn't interested.

Actually he's owed $19m over the next four seasons after this one. An average of $4.75m. If the Oilers trade him after July 1st next summer, that number drops to $16m as he receives an annual signing bonus that day.

This is what he means by real money.

That's stilll a lot more real money. Teams like Arizona prefer little (Hossa) or even no money (Datsyuk).

The internet is your friend . I know it can be difficult . Lucic is owed 22.5 million over the next 5 years . Bonus was already paid this year so he only owed 3.5 for the rest of this year

2018/19 3.5 million
2019/20 6 million total
2020/21 4 million total
2021/22 5 million total
2022/23 4 million total

total 22.5 million Divided by 5 = 4.5 million

Everyone know bonuses are paid July 1

The Great, Milan Lucic!

5 years left on his term @ 6M.

Full NMC for the next 3 seasons that turns into a modified NTC the final 2.

I don't think Lucic waives his NMC to go to the rebuilding Rangers or Wings. But if he did, that 1st better be unprotected.

I totally agree.

must just be looking at the stats line and PTS column.
Larsson is a legit top 4 Dman if not a #2. lol @#6.
You’re both wrong. He’s a good #4.

Basically best to keep him and play him on the checking line at this point because it won’t be worth the cost to get rid of him. They should have a few guys on ELC’s the next couple of years come in and cut down on the cost. Also signing guys like Rattie and Reider on the cheap can have a decent sized payoff.

So, who would Oilers fans prefer to have now, Taylor Hall, or Milan Lucic? Remember when Jordan Eberle was the old whipping boy? Seems like he might be more welcome now than Lucic.

They would rather have Adam Larsson over the reigning MVP.

"Bingo

Hall got a whole three more points than Lucic. Plus the Oilers had their best top defence pairing in a decade.

Hall won't play 82 games again in this league. Maybe he has two 50 point seasons left in him.

Absolutely beauty deal that feels so good now."

No . We would have Larsson and Hall. Too bad we couldn't trade Eberle + Yak instead of Hall. NJ GM can burn with the devil for that.
