If Paul did not just re-sign in Montréal, Lucic + 1st + 2nd for him would have made sense.

Seems like a deep draft to be giving up and 1st in and I would hate to give up Yamamoto . I like to move on from Lucic but would rather do
Lucic + 2nd 2019 + 2020 1st unprotected + Jones

So, who would Oilers fans prefer to have now, Taylor Hall, or Milan Lucic? Remember when Jordan Eberle was the old whipping boy? Seems like he might be more welcome now than Lucic.

Hall is a Superstar and one of the very best in the NHL! The guy is Elite!
Oilers got robbed at gun point on that trade! It is the worst trade in the NHL in the modern Cap era. Just hilarious.

Considering how much Hall's name was brought up when Lucic was signed, it's only fair, especially when you guys thought Lucic and Larsson were an upgrade over Taylor Hall. Quite the upgrade that turned out to be.

Why do people start these threads? They're inevitably going to turn into an absolute gongshow as soon as one or two posters decide to chime in with trolling comments and stir up shit for the mods to cleanup.
Milan Lucic doesn't have any trade value with his contract. The Oilers don't have to organizational depth today to really commit to trading for a 'top six' LW, so why would they commit assets to trading one away?
Just play Lucic deeper in the lineup if he continues to struggle next to Draisaitl once the season starts. He scored 34 points last year and finished the year decently skating next to Ryan Strome. Once the PP starts clicking again, that's probably a good baseline as to what the Oilers should expect from him at minimum this season. It's not preferable at his cost, but oh well. Teams sometimes have to deal with bad value.

More likely than not, lucic with an nice asset attached will get a cap dump that's not quite as big as lucic's deal.
