This will be a spoiler for those who havent watched the ending. Ok, so I havent seen the finale since it first aired, how was it determined that it was all a dream again? or am i mistaken? at the end where Jack is laying on the beach with the dog and he sees the plane fly by. did they all die at the impact of the plane crash in the beginning, i'm still confused.

...Did you watch the whole show? It's pretty straightforward. It wasn't a dream, everything that happened on the island happened. The alternate timeline was a world post-death that they created to find each other when they all died so they can move on together as the time they spent on the island was the most important time with the people most important to them.

Don't listen to him. It was all in the dog's mind. It started and ended with the dog's consciousness, and the only one who got a normal life was the kid who owned him.

If i remember correctly, everything that happened on the island, past & present, really happened. Each character died at their own independant time. Some died on the island within the scope of the show, others outside and elsewhere. Jakc really died right there on the beach. The only thing that was a "dream" was the alternate reality that broke off after they detonated the bomb back in the 70's.

Also, there was nothing significant about the time inwhich they started telling the alternate reality or "dream" plotline other than messing with the audiance, as far as i can tell. That plotline was just a means of slowly establishing that the show was never really about the island, but the characters on it. Doing it the way they did just kept us guessing until the final episode.

Who Created it

The group as a collective. The alternate timeline was sort of like a purgatory for those who had not yet moved on from the things that haunted them during their lives.

and whatsup with the Donkey Wheel
A full explanation of the ancient culture isn't given, but the gist is that they constructed the wheel to harness the special energy of the island.

and the Smoke Monster...

The Man in Black became the Smoke Monster when he was sent into the heart of the island.

was that **** necessary

Is anything necessary?

They wrote a great show with some fun/good actors and when it didn't get cancelled they decided to try explain their mess.

If it was left like Twin Peaks it would have been amazing.

Just got back from vacation in Honolulu, we rented a car and drove around the island and I made a point of visiting the beach where the Lost survivor's camp was set up. Pretty cool to see the spot but it's a quiet with nothing going on now. It would have been nice to see it when they were actually filming and all the props were set up with all the tents and kitchen area, etc. It's on the north shore of Oahu, accessible via a quiet residential street. I guess if I ever do a re-watch I'll just be thinking of how there are people sitting in their houses just beyond the shrubbery. :D

What I really would like to have seen is the valley where Hurley's golf hole was set up and countless other scenes were filmed. It's on a private ranch though and they run Lost tours that are a little costly.

Happy LOST Day!

4/8/15

I guess 4:23 and 42 seconds would be the exact moment.

I was debating on bumping this thread. With so many shows getting reboots and remakes in the last few years (24, Heroes, Coach, X Files, etc), how long before this show gets a resurrection of some sort?

At the time, I would have said that the show is done, and that it told everything it needed to tell. But, it seems like any franchise with name recognition will be squeezed for anything else it can produce.

Happy LOST day indeed.

Still haven't found a show that I was as emotionally attached to as this one.

Agreed. Lost may not be the greatest show ever, but I don't think I'll ever be attached to a show like I was with Lost. I love Homeland (my favorite show currently) because of how exciting and nerve-wrecking it is, but the connection with Lost will always be stronger.

Huge fan of the soundtrack too. "Life and Death" and "There's No Place Like Home" are amazing.

Interesting that this was bumped now, I'm currently re-watching the show. Getting to the end of season 2 right now. Love Lost so much. I'm one of the few that really didn't mind the later seasons or the finale, especially since I'm apparently part of the 5% of watchers who understood they weren't dead the whole time.

Excited for when I get to season 3, late season 3 especially is the bomb.

It was long over by the time I watched, and I marathoned through the entire series (even though I knew the ending before I even started watching).
I liked it, but I don't think it's something that I'd buy the DVDs to watch over and over again.

How does it feel to watch again when you already know what is going to happen?
I love it so much but I dont know if I could rewatch again, the mystery about not knowing what the heck was wrong on this island made the experience so much better
My favorite show ever
