I just want MTL to buyout DD this summer and trade Emelin after July 1st for a draft pick and use that $$$ to sign Okposo or Eriksson.

Pacioretty-Plekanec-Okposo/Eriksson
Galchenyuk-Eller-Gallagher
DLR-Danault-Andrighetto
Carr-McCarron-Byron

Lessio/Mitchell

Beaulieu-Subban
Markov-Petry
Barberio-Pateryn

Dietz/Ellis

Price
Condon

Matteau and Flynn in the AHL.

Question: Is Hudon waiver exempt next year?

I can role with this linuep. I would use Hudon to get Drouin or another player with upside. So basically Hudon + a 2nd for Drouin. Move DLR or Danault on the 4th and start Drouin on the 3rd see how it goes.

Here goes, assuming Emelin and DD are moved for higher picks in the draft or prospects:

Patches - Pleky - Gally
Eller - Chucky - Ghetto
Hudon - McCarron - Carr
Mitch - Danault - Byron
Matteau

Call ups: Lessio/DLR

Markov - Subban
Beaulieu - Petry
Barberio - Pateryn
Bartley

Call ups: Ellis/Dietz

Desperately need another legit top 6 winger.

I'm pretty disappointed with Bergevin's work at the deadline. Usually teams out of the playoffs trade away 4th line depth more picks, we added a bunch. Unless he pulls off something this summer, this is the best possible lineup...

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Andrighetto
Hudon - Galchenyuk - Gallagher
Eller - Desharnais - Carr
Byron - Danault - Mitchell

Flynn, Matteau

... and we'll have to risk waiving Lessio. Andrighetto and Hudon are too unproven to be in our top 6 but I see no other scenario that works.

This team needs change, and needs to find offence. No other way around it. Need to make a splash in Free Agency.

Yes, I still dream of having Jaromir Jagr in Montreal so I do have him in my lineup. Chances are high that he will re-sign in Florida. If he does, replace him with Okposo, Lucic, Stamkos, Eriksson, Staal, Boedker, etc. Alot of good available free agents at this point.

I would acquire Jonathan Drouin this summer as well. Sign a top 6 UFA and sign a top 4 Defenceman. If Jagr can be had, he can be signed for a cheap price for what he can bring. Think $2.5M - $3M. That would leave room to bring in another top 6 UFA potentially depending on what you can unload (Desharnais, Emelin etc.)

Max Pacioretty - Alex Galchenyuk - Andrew Ladd
Jaromir Jagr - Tomas Plekanec - Jonathan Drouin
Sven Andrighetto - Lars Eller - Brendan Gallagher
Michael McCarron - Phillip Danault - Paul Byron

PK Subban - Dan Hamhuis
Nathan Beaulieu - Jeff Petry
Greg Pateryn - Andrei Markov

Carey Price
Mike Condon

This may look like a longshot, but there are enough talented UFA's available as of right now, that with hard work, a lineup similar to this should be attainable.

So at this point going into next year we're looking at:

Max Pacioretty-Alex Galchenyuk-Brendan Gallagher
Carr/Hudon-Thomas Plekanec-Sven Andrighetto
David Desharnais-Lars Eller-Mike McCarron
Matteau/De La Rose-Philip Danault-Paul Byron
Mitchell

Nathan Beaulieu-PK Subban
Andrei Markov-Jeff Petry
Alexei Emelin-Greg Pateryn
Barberio/Bartley

Carrey Price
Mike Condon

So the desperate need is at least 1, but ideally 2 top 6F. I'd obviously move DD or Emelin in a heartbeat if we can find a taker.

I'm not going to post a lineup, but please to put Bartley anywhere near this team next year. He is slow and makes awful decisions with the puck. I don't know if I've seen him make one competent play since he got called up.

Lots of work to do as this lineup has not properly been built but there's hope. The problem is too many 3rd and 4th liners.

Plek - 2nd liner on a good team
Patches - 1st line LW based on his goals potential
Gally - 2nd liner on a good team

Eller - very good shutdown 3C
Chucky - 1st line talent both as a LW and C
Andriguetto - 3rd line on a good team

DLR - 4th line at best?
Danault - 4th liner, possibly 3rd at best.
Byron - 4th liner

Mitchell - 4th liner
Matteau - 4th line, 3rd line at best.
Flynn - 4th liner

Carr - possible 3rd liner, but not in a shutdown role
McCarron - eventually 3rd line shutdown role but maybe not next year. One more in the AHL?
Hudon - eventually a 3rd liner?

Desharnais - doesn't seem to fit in anymore but, with MT, we can expect him to be a top 6.

So?

Patches-Chucky-XX
XX-Plek-Gally
Carr (or Hudon)-Eller-Guetto
Matteau-Danault-DLR-Mitchell-Flynn-Byron

McCarron is a wild card. We'll see how he progresses these next 20 games.

For Hudon, why not give him the same audition instead of a guy like Brown?

So Bergevin certainly has lots of work to do to improve the top 6 with little to offer.

Let's end this season with a full on tank and let the rookies play.

Pacioretty-Plekanec-Andrighetto
Hudon-Galchenyuk-Gallagher
Danault-De la rose-Byron
Matteau-McCarron-Brown

Therrien should try new combos instead of putting the same lineup. We are done this season.

Pacioretty-Eller-Andrighetto
Danault-Galchenyuk-Gallagher

Top 6?
Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Andrighetto
Hudon - Plekanec - Gallagher

Draft top 3 and develop McCarron, Scherbak, DLR, and Carr for the bottom 6.

I like Mitchell and Byron in the bottom 6. That leaves Eller and DD to jump around where they are needed.

Not a fan of Danault or Matteau

Except he's fast, has one of the best wrister on the team, and one of the few with actual offensive awareness.
