Would love to see next year:
Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Andrighetto
X1 - Plekanec - Gallagher
Eller - McCarron - Carr
Byron - Danault - Mitchell
X2 - Subban
Beaulieu - Petry
Markov - Pateryn
X1 - Skinner, Yakupov, Drouin, Hartnell, Marleau, Hudon, Scherbak
X2 - ?? Campbell, Yandle, Hamhuis, Fowler/Despres, Brodin/Scandella
Trade Emelin, Desharnais
On the block - Markov, DLR, Plekanec, Eller
Andrighetto is not a first line player, certainly not now.
Personally, when making line combos, I like to:
- Spread out the smaller guys
- Use responsible centers
- Allow my wingers to create offensively
My priority would be to snag Stamkos. It may not happen of course, but if it does, I see several possibilities. A versatile coach could change up our look and adjust for different teams or even in-game.
OPTION 1: Two-way centers
Pacioretty-Plekanec-Stamkos
Galchenyuk-Eller-Gallagher
Carr-McCarron-Andrighetto
DeLaRose-Danault-Mitchell
OPTION 2: Load first line
Pacioretty-Galchenyuk-Stamkos
Andrighetto-Plekanec-McCarron
Carr-Eller-Gallagher
DeLaRose-Danault-Mitchell
OPTION 3 - 3 balanced lines:
Carr-Stamkos-McCarron
Galchenyuk-Eller-Gallagher
Pacioretty-Plekanec-Andrighetto
DeLaRose-Danault-Mitchell
With Stamkos, Galchenyuk and Pacioretty on three different lines, who does the opposition key on??
BTW, the first two options also work if we get a strong RW in UFA or via trade, instead of Stamkos
