Now on pace for 49G* 51A 100P

*I rounded up

I see 90-100P as doable. He's so consistent in scoring, doesn't score in bunches, and doesn't slump. It's his 5th season, so he knows how to pace himself yet @23 still has young legs. There is also the fact that approaching milestones the boys might feed him a little more than usual and he might push for it. Playoffs, 50G, &/or 100P are all something for Leon to push for.

^Another garbage spector article. It was Spector himself that tongue lashed Drai after the SJ game and that asked Hitchcock pointed questions about Draisaitl. Because that's Spectors ongoing issue. Not the first time either. This in effect was Spector manufacturing his own story and narrative so that he can say he had some indirect way of outing something and effecting a turn around.

Theres also several made up narratives in the Spector article which really is just him thinking aloud, fwiw. (not much)

Draisaitl has been owning the NHL since around December 6, 2018 and pretty much a contiguous stretch of awesome play. The SJ game in question was played a month after Drai started superheating. It had nothing to do with any turnaround. it has to do with whatever loose screws are flying around in Spectors skull.

Drai had an off game against SJ, that's all that was, really. An outlier bad game. he was redhot before the one game, redhot since.

Spector would have you believe that Drai required a reaming out from Hitch to turn around and that he was the only subject of the statement that the players have to want it more. I don't know how Drai could possibly exhibit wanting success more than he is. He's probably the 3rd best forward in the entire league right now when he's not also playing defensive assignments and covering back countlessly for out of position defense.

The Hitch comments in the article, which were an ANSWER to Spectors pointed questions condemning Drais play were just an example of a coach going to the well. Drai is his best 200ft Center by a mile, and a workhorse. He's the guy most likely to respond by carrying the team on his shoulders. So that Hitch linked that, and maybe even to get Drai Angry, in effect whipping a horse. But Drai IS the horse.

Hitch, or Spector, or Tychkowski are not going to go at McD, he's untouchable, so they go to the next one. Malkin and Kessel get the same derision in Pittsburgh, always have, its just dynamic. You can't critique McD much, you can't critique Crosby, so you go at the others. In Hitchcocks case he's smart enough to know that Draisaitl has more burning desire than anyone to improve every facet. he's coach ready, first and foremost. Drais dad is a coach.

That should be an aha statement.

Hitch is just whipping the horse that is most likely not to rear, and the one he trusts to pull the weight. If anybody on a coaching staff ever called out Nuge would he take it well? I don't know, its never happened, and he's a bad GA player this season not covering his end.

Last night, again, Nuge has incredible lack of compete preceding a goal. Him and Bonino go to the boards in exact same position. its a clear 50/50 puck. Bonino wins the puck clean because Nuge, an 8 season vet, is a joke on the boards, gets the puck back to the point and the Preds score a big goal. nuge didn't even compete on the play. A shift later Nuge attempts a shot on net, fans on it, and Preds have a two on one break. Next shift Nuge loses another battle and its a goal post saving us.

Where's any media or presser comments on that. This about the 7th game in a row Nuge has been junk.
This is the Vet player in the lineup. Who is one dimensional this season. But everybodies pleased he is at least got 55pts and is -13.

The astounding thing, really, is Nuge's present season is just him getting back to what he was in rookie season. But not even, because he's giving up a lot more GA. Without all the PP pts and dependency Nuge has been pretty average.

A story of two players. McD goes down, anytime it ever happens, and McD isn't in the lineup, Drai carries the club and Nuge is invisible.

40 goals for Drai. That's a pretty elite number to hit.

Hell of a season.

Currently on pace for 51. That'll be tough since he's bound to cool down this torrid pace he's been on the last month or so. But damn it would be impressive.

McDavid in every season he's been here has torn it up down the stretch run. They will keep him with McDavid and they will both light it up. Especially with a lot of non-playoff team games, I think there's a better chance he hits 50 and 100.

Spector is the very definition of someone that just goes wherever the wind blows. He is such a clown and contradicts himself vs his previous writings almost daily now, and he doesn't care one bit.

He's just hanging on, kissing the orgs butt and trying to make money on the side off some nostalgia books.

Honest question, if the Oilers make the playoffs, and Dr. Drai scores 50 goals + 100 points, does he win the Hart? The last player to do this was Malkin in 2011-2012.

Why would he win it over McDavid?

Since 2011-2012, only one player has scored 50 goals + 100 points. Draisaitl could have a case, but he is facing McDavid.
I guess I understand the logic but don't see it. I would be curious if they would have both McDavid and Draisaitl in the voting.

Kane has a better chance of doing it this year. Same number of goals and more points.

I think if either team makes the playoffs, they will be nominated for sure. But Kucherov is winning it this year, without question. He is having the best singular season in over a decade.

Always thought Draisaitl would be more like Thornton based on his junior play.

His off-the-puck spacing and angles to shoot are unreal.

Never thought he would hit 40 goals. Incredible.

Draisaitl now has 24 goals in his last 30 games.

Over that span, the Oil have gone 10-16-4.

How do we explain this?

I think Draisaitl has (by necessity!) become the striker on the team. It's like, naturally, he might rather be the playmaking center, but since nobody else can score, he's taken that up.

Anyway, I like seeing him shoot a lot. He's deadly from that spot close-in, to the left of the goalie.

The thing that's impressed me the most is how dedicated he is to improving. From junior we all knew he had elite size, passing, and hands, but his shot was just decent and his skating was questionable. His dedication to improving those aspects can not go unstated.

He can now add shot and speed to his list of elite traits.

He doesn't get nearly enough respect from the media to do that. Let's be real, he's on pace to score 50 g and 100 pts, and he's still considered a product of McDavid.
