Just have a bad feeling that Babcock will never give Leivo his due.. Hopefully Kyle can get something decent from him if this is the case. This guy does not deserve to play anymore AHL hockey.

He hasn't even been playing AHL hockey! Babcock has played him 40 something times in 3 years. I think it's best for both parties if they trade Leivo to a team where he can flourish. Idk what babcocks deal with Leivo is

Think you have to ask yourself what role you expect of certain players. To me, Ennis is a top line player or bust. Leivo might be asked to handle a defensive role. Neither might work well.

We know roughly what Ennis is. I'd rather give Leivo one last shot in a legitimate role. His underlying numbers in small samples are quite strong. I don't think it will be hard to find another Tyler Ennis if we waive him, I don't think I can say the same about Leivo with as much confidence.

Now, if we are never going to give Leivo a fair-shot in a top 9 role, I hope for his sake we waive him. I just hope it isn't a Steve Sullivan type situation if we do.

theres not a lot of wing competition after leivo and ennis...leivo will have plenty of chances to play and stick with team...at least we know ennis is a solid back up option, hes not a good nhl player no more, but hes played plenty of nhl hockey and we know he can at least play

Theres plenty of time , your forgetting as soon as theres any controversy BADCOCK throws the personel to the wind . Babcock line changing wins games ..how soon you forget.
Look for the constant dog house to surface as the team struggles to stay at 500.

I don't think there's a chance in hell that Leivo makes the team and sticks. He's not getting in the top 6, he isn't a 4th line guy and there's no way Mike would have him on the shutdown line as he goes missing far too often.

I'd expect him to be traded at some point this year.

Both should be on the roster, whoever is playing well should be penciled in while the other sits in the box. Feel bad for Leivo but it's up to him to take the spot.

at least find out what Leivo is, Ennis is a fun gadget player who I'm sure won't balk at collecting an NHL paycheck for watching hockey. Leivo has had flashes of brilliant play in measurables over long enough stretches to think that there's a chance he could actually be that player, let's follow the smoke to see if there's fire and if there is get it under a team-friendly contract, if there isn't then make other plans

Agree 100%, let's find out what Leivo is once and for all. LOL gadget player.

Agree 100%. And yes, if it ends up being another Steve Sullivan type situation that would sting.

Everyone has, and needs, an Ennis!

In all seriousness, if Leivo can round into form, and, stay our of Babcock's doghouse, then, he should have a slight edge over the smaller Ennis.

Now, having said that, if Leivo has any sort of trade value, maybe he should be packaged for some help on D. Hainsy is not looking so hot!

Whats a Leafs hockey season without the ol' Josh Leivo is awesome and should play more thread. Hopefully they just ship him out already so this infatuation can end.

It's Leivo's job to lose. Ennis is the only placeholder in the lineup right now, Leivo is practicing with a line he could see in the regular season.

I'm going with Leivo because I just don't think Ennis is any good.

One factor with Leivo, the kid has hardly played the last couple years. He needs a good run to get a groove going and then we can make definitive statements about what/who he is...can't imagine how hard it is to keep the rust off and grow with his situation, it really isn't a "fair" read and yet he tends to impress. f*** Ennis, you keep Leivo.

I think both could be in the lineup (maybe one as the 13th forward) but Leivo should have the edge. He’s going to be better offensively

Ennis at his peak was a 20gl/50pt type while getting 1st line minutes, linemates, and PP time. While being a poor possession player to boot.

I like the Ennis pickup but with our young depth he should strictly be an injury fill-in.

And even when there's injury, I think I'd rather see the likes of Grundstrom and Engvall get looks.

Marleau Matthews Nylander
Hyman Tavares Marner
Leivo Kadri Brown
Johnsson Lindholm Kapanen

This is my lineup as well. Or at least considering Babcock has already said these are his top two lines, this is how I'd fill out the rest of it.

Would prefer neither but if I had to choose it would be Ennis. Leivo is constantly in the doghouse because he doesn't specialise/stand out in any one area. Like goat, all he has is time served and its about time the leafs end these two experiments.
