Desjardins seems like an odd choice...but they annouced him as interim HC, so they're looking for something else while he takes the reigns for a short time, no?

Rob Blake 2017,

"I am confident that we are both in agreement on how that can be executed. With that said, we believe John has the ideal qualities to lead our hockey club. His wide array of coaching experience, including success as an NHL head coach and his inherent knowledge of our players and those in our development system, is very appealing to us. We are confident he is the best person to lead our hockey club forward."

Lol

Pretty sure both AV and Torts were both fired within a season of getting contract extensions from the Rangers.

The lies we tell ourselves...

As much as people diss AV, dude has won a shitload of hockey games. A good veteran laden roster is just what he likes. Wouldn't be surprised. A week or two ago someone started a thread about a kings fire sale and I said you should fire the coach and get a fresh look before you break the roster down.

ehh tbf desjardins didnt get much nhl coaching experience before being handed the canucks. maybe he could prove people wrong.

he did coach two whl teams (never missed the playoffs once over 9 years and typically over 40 wins which is relatively impressive in the chl) to championships and an ahl team to a championship.

Basically. They fired both the HC and AHC so they need someone immediately to step in. Hopefully Blake does some proper coach interviews in the meantime. If Willie somehow does well and surprises people, he'll have his own shot, but he was named interim.

I wish the hawks had the same balls. Freaking cowards in our front office.
Doesnt this display counter that? They fired and replaced Sutter. And within a small margin of no gain are firing that coach again. And then probably wont go far with Desjardins getting fired or not made full HC.

Q's time is done but simply a firing or gm shift like this will just go nowhere like the kings has.

Willie loves veterans, he will play the heck out of them.

Also Kings fans, Willie lives rolling 1-2-3-4 lines.
Almost refuses to line match up.
