Oscar Moller, Matias Sjogren, Jussi Rynnas and Konstantin Korneev leave Ak Bars

I think they all performed more or less as expected which is obviously not good enough for Ak Bars. Will be interesting to see if any KHL team manages to sign Moller as talent-wise he is one of the best goalscorers in the league.

Not so sure after his PO series against Torpedo.

I wasn't too sure all along as Koskinen still has a contract and I can't see how is Karlsson any upgrade over him. I'd actually argue it would be a downgrade, if anything.

Think there's a second chance at the NHL in his future?

I don't think he can have a successful career in the NHL but if he has a strong WC some desperate team like Phoenix might give him a chance. What makes it possible is that financially I don't see him getting much better offers than the ones coming from the NHL as surely he didn't come back to it in 2014 because of financial reasons.

Well if Radulov decides to go to the NHL it will most likely not be the Caps, since they have alredy pretty much used up their cap space and they have a couple of bix extensions coming up: Johansson, Orlov and next year Kuznetsov. Unless they fail in the playoffs and sombody get's traded + Radulov takes a paycut. I think if Radulov goes to NHL it will be the Kings. Btw im a huge Caps fan and would love to se Radulov there but it's simply not going to happen, most likely Radulov will stay in the KHL and sign an extension with CSKA or go to SKA.

Spartak announced they are releasing Wellman, Engren, Korobov and Genoway. Former two were rather disappointing but I can't see them not being happy with the way later two played meaning those are after a bigger fish. Pretty interesting where they will end up. I'd suppose Minsk really wants Korobov, for Genoway NLA is also an option though, I guess.

Anyone have a scouting report/analysis of Shipachev's game?

A lot like Malkin minus size meaning he's a bit underwhelming physically. Also doesn't love to carry the puck as much and not a one-timer specialist/trigger man. Other than that, the guy is magic in the offensive zone - great vision, all kinds of moves with the puck, sweet wrister, good skating. Ridiculous to think in 11/12 he scored 59 points for Severstal when 2nd best between forwards was 28.

Even extremely talented player like Gusev has to give a good bit of credit to Shypachyov for all this hype around himself at the moment.

I think it's pretty much a lock - we will be seeing Zaitsev in Toronto uniform next year. Hopefully Pivtsakin after proper preseason will be able to contribute more. Denisov is not getting any younger and Kiselevich hasn't progressed as I had hoped for.

I've always thought that Shipachyov's game reminds me of a guy like Mike Ribeiro. Excellent playmaker with good decisions, prefers to make quick passes, but is very good at slow positional attacks too, skilled and creative, his shot is not the hardest, but accurate and quick. Doesn't use his body on offense much, but will throw a big hit if there's an opportunity. Competent at defense.

I'm not surprised that Khudobin has finally grown tired of dangling between leagues at 30 years and wants to settle down.

There have been various reports recently with claims that Datsyuk wants to come back to Russia for family reasons. Is this the really case? Please let it be. He still has one or two seasons to play in KHL if not more. What would be his choice do you think? SKA or CSKA? I'd like to believe he would come to Yekaterinburg, his birth place, but I guess this is too much of a wishful thinking.

He could play in the KHL until he is 50, at least. How many years he will actually play depends on him only. It would obviously make sense for Detroit to let him go already but it's hard to see Datsyuk walking away from 5.5 mil remaining on his contract. Then again, CSKA can offer him something like 4 mil and he would get more actual cash that way than playing in the NHL.

How does it make sens for DET to let him go? 48 points in 63 games - he's still a major contributor, not to mention a center, and one of the better ones defensively.

7.5 mils against the cap for a center who is injured every season dating back to 10/11 and is slowing down offensively on a team which needs new core badly, has Larkin playing on the wing and Mrazek, Dekeyser, Sheahan, Helm, Marchenko and Pulkkinen waiting for new contracrs this summer. Do the math.

It makes no sense, when he is out of the line up there offense is nothing, Ive watched 90% of there games this year - yeah hes aging but hes still their best offensive weapon. Zetterberg has suffered a terrible year, Pulkinen and Jurco have been healthy scratching, if Datsyuk goes their done next year. I believe also his cap hit remains even if he returns to the KHL (part of the anti circumvention law).

He's not even slowing that badly, last year he was PPG, this year slightly under that, but thats partly due to the poor season all of the forwards are having. They have switched from puck possession to dump and chase. They've just lost too much of the old guard like Franzen, Lidstrom even Kindl, Huder, Filpulla have all been replaced by disappointments like Glendening, Sheehan, Tatar and Nyquist have not developed as hoped - its just all disappointing in Detroit this year. Anathasiou is the only intriguing hope for the future. Larkin is typical dump and chase Canadian guy who can shoot and skate but zero creativity or passing capabilities.

The old Detroit as we have known for past 20+ years dies with Datsyuk.

Wings can just trade the contract to Coyotes or Leafs or some other team in need of it.

That second part though.. Back in the day I regarded you as knowledgeable and respectable poster but holy Jesus..
