Can't believe this guy. How thick in the skull can you get? Carlyle certainly didn't seem impressed by Lupul's heroic attitude for the practice. It was made mandatory by the coaching staff for every player on the team to wear the guards but refusing to wear em in turn hurting the team's chances NOT COOL!

If Lupul is injured, I am going to get pissed.

Take it easy, its only practice. Let Bernier save the shot next time!

We lose a ****ing insane number of players due to pucks in practice. Force everyone to wear foot/skate protectors, maybe even beefed up pads in general.

Bozak is the one to blame.

I think Lupul could challenge for top 5 in scoring if he only has to deal with bruises and what not during the season. A day off is no big deal, especially in a shortened season like this.

Point is it was a dumb decision by Lupul. If I'm Carlyle I'm mandating that every damn player wears them for practice and games. Lupul is way too important to this team to miss him for weeks or possible months because of a broken foot. It goes for everybody, we can't be losing guys because of injuries in ****ing practice! Enough of the stubbornness and just wear the damn things. *******!!

I've never worn skate protection, - what exactly is the big deal about wearing these? I've seen them on TV during games here and there but I just google imaged them I can't see how it really affects anything in a negative way or how it causes enough discomfort or whatever for a player to refuse to wear them.

agreed.

at least in practice. I personally like the high intensity practices, it's necessary to elevate ones game. They all need to wear protection, shouldn't be an option.

Joffrey Lupul just finished a 20-minute workout on the stationary bike outside the #Leafs dressing room in Columbus during the team's skate.

If you can force a skate on I say throw him out there regardless. If his bad decision making caused that bone bruise then he should play in whatever condition he can. Might actually wear the protection next time.
