Ladies and gentlemen. Please welcome your 2020, Team Finland
Montreal CanaFins
Where can I get the English version of this? Thanks
Joel Armia solmi miljoonadiilin Montrealin kanssa - sitä ei heti uskoisi autosta: ”Turha sellaisiin on tuhlata”
Long interview with Kotkaniemi and Armia (in Finnish), I might translate it later today.
Picture is from a charity game they both played in on Wednesday
If hes that hes a 1C, but he has more upside than just 60 in him. The vision alone will make him an elite player.I'm hoping he could be a 60p 2 way guy ala Mikko Koivu in his prime. I don't see him realistically ever being better than that though.
Use google translate, it's so horrible it's hilariousI'm always thinking if this kid will be a 15 pointer... Then I start thinking but what if he's the 60-70-80-90-100 pointer? One can dream

I'd put Ylonen with Kotka, Lekhonen on the 3rd line and Domi+Drouin on the 2nd line
we don't even know yet if Kotka and Ylonen are NHLers.
It's all a projection game.we don't even know yet if Kotka and Ylonen are NHLers.
The way he rose in the rankings though. If another team was drafting at three, do you think they take a pass on this kid based on one fact alone and that is the value of a potential(because that's all they are) number one center? Number one center is the most important position in the NHL, you can get by with an average D core if you have a good 1-2 combo( something I have always wanted), they control the game. Max Pacioretty could have been a 40-50 goal man with a good number one center, we can't ignore that.we don't even know yet if Kotka and Ylonen are NHLers.
Dear God, please allow this kid to become a superstar and lift the Montreal Canadiens to prominence once again, we are not bottom feeders.
I wonder if they traded for Armia was to give this kid a comfort zone if you will? It is not an easy feat for basically what is a child to come to a new country and try to learn a fast paced new language and try to adapt to a new culture. I want to see him succeed, we need something, anything.Honestly, I can deal with us being bottom feeders a couple seasons so we can rebuild but all I ask is we are fun to watch and exciting.
Obviously, if Kotkaniemi can develop to his potential, that is a start in the right direction.

We are not expecting him this year though right? It seems like both he and Poehling will be 2019-20 right?Perhaps. I hope Armia and Lehkonen could be good anchors for him.

I am not expecting Kotkaniemi here until 2019-2020 at the very earliest. More likely 2020-2021. He will be at our training camp in September but temper expectations. I’d be utterly stunned if he makes the team.
Dont have to look back too far, Strome, Heiskanen, Pulju have yet to make it. Its all about where they get, not whenEvery prospect uses a different development path, but the NHL is a young man's game now. Kotkaniemi has a lot of growing to do, yet I can't see him being an NHLer only in 2020-2021. That's a lot of patience by today's standards for a 3rd overall pick. We'll make room for such a smart and complete centerman before then.
