Thank you sir! Always good to see what's going on, down... there :D

Looks like the late round picks from this last draft, are off to a good start.

I think Sorokin should be considered our top prospect. He's been the most dominant player at his position for a couple years now. Perhaps the best talent at goalie not playing in the NHL.

In a way, I think you're right. If we only look at his sporting achievements to date, he's the runaway top prospect and few prospects outside the NHL can boast what he can in the achievements department.

But as with guys like Kaprizov (MIN), until he's actually under contract with this team, it'll be hard to judge him solely on his actual feats, but also his probability of actually being in the NHL one day.

Which is a question that is inherently asked for everyone in prospect status.

Just for kicks I looked up how Robin Salo was doing this year. Take home message: not so good.

His team is tied for 13th in a 15 team league. He is -2 on the +/- (FWIW) which leads his team D on the negative side. His scoring line is 9G, 0G and 2A.

On the positive side, John Persson (yeah the ex-Sound Tiger) leads the team with 5G and 1A in 9 Games though he's a team worst -5 on the +/-.

Their goalies must be pretty bad. One of them has played 6 of the 9 games with a 3.17 GA and .858 save percentage. Yikes.

Now, of all the guys they're bringing over to BPort "somewhat early", he may have been the one who needed it the most.

This kid was a stud at 16.

A change of scenery will need to happen next summer.

To be fair to the kid, it's hard to judge him based on internet stats alone.
But that's what I do!

I believe that if Sorokin were on U.S. soil, he would be voted overwhelmingly as our #1 prospect. Can't blame people for being jittery, though. It's been so long since we had a G prospect with such promise, he feels like a hybrid unicorn/bigfoot. Must... treat... gingerly...

We need to see him, make sure he's real.

Salo, I like. Seems like a decent player, stuck on a crappy team. I am holding out hope for him, think he may vie for a spot soon. Problem is with LHD, we have tons of depth, but no real stud.

Interesting tidbit about Dobson is that he revealed that he feels he is equally adept at playing both sides. When he's ready, maybe we pair him with Pulock?

Maybe next year we see...

Dobson - Pulock
Toews - Mayfield
Pelech - Boychuk/Hutton

I think I think too much.

The Isles have a wealth of riches on D prospects. Dobson, Bolduc, Wilde, Aho, now Salo maybe be entering the equation to add to Toews, Pulock, Pelech and Mayfield.

You just have to wonder when Lou will parlay this strength into a young scoring fwd.

The Isles D is the future and the strength of the franchise.

Still, of those you mentioned there are questions marks (Bolduc and Wilde), a bust (Salo) and a borderline at best 3rd pairing Dman (Aho).

This is a solid but not spectacular group today. The future will hopefully be much better with physical maturity and development.

This is fair, not all prospects will make it, this is true. Even if we allow for 50% of those mentioned to bust. We are still in good shape.

Dobson
Pulock
Toews
Pelech
Mayfield

all seem to be locks going fwd. Just need to add one to this list. A 7th D man could be added for depth as a UFA. It's a very promising D core, I would surmise cap management will be the challenge once all are on their 2nd deals.

Forgot to add Hutton. He's a keeper from what I've seen.

Yes, I really liked what I saw, with Hutton.
Hutton is very close in my opinion. He's been one of the best dmen in training camp and sure the 2nd call up after Hickey.
Therefore I voted for him to be ahead of Holmstrom and Wilde.

Ishakov is 0G 1A and only 3 shots after 3 games.

Way too early to for any rash judgements but....he is a second round pick.

Hopefully he ramps up the production quickly.

we need to trade some D for O

We've got a lot of #5-6 Dmen, some of whom are judged to be better than that on this board.

No one is going to give up much for that especially at this time of the year.

The names they'll be asking for are the ones most of us on the board think are untouchable or nearly so. That would be Puloch, Toews, Dobson, Wilde and Pelech (to a lesser extent)..
