It's so interesting to see these prospects develop. Toews has become what I thought Pulock would turn out to be. His offensive instincts are excellent, and he's really contributing on both ends of the ice. He's on pace for 23 goals, 35 assists and 58 points. I don't think he'll keep up that pace, but 10-12 goals and 40-45 points would not be a surprise.

Not disappointed in Pulock, just thought he'd add more offensively. He's much better defensively than I thought he'd be.

I could be wrong but I think Pulock is a December on producer. Lee is the same way. Going off feeling btw, not stats I looked up. I want to say the 5 point night in Chicago last season was huge for Pulock and he carried on after.

Regarding Ilya Sorokin...
]

"Off to a hot start"

October 18, 2019

Sorokin is currently sporting an 8-1-1 record with 1.37 GAA and .942 save percentage with CSKA Moscow.

ANALYSIS
Sorokin is still considered the goaltender of the future for the Islanders and there was even a conspiracy theory that one of the reasons the Islanders signed Semyon Varlamov was because of his friendship with Sorokin. Whether or not that is true or if it helps remains to be seen. The Islanders are hoping that Sorokin will come to North America next season to at least split the starting role with Varlamov as Thomas Greiss is in the last year of his contract and is unlikely to be re-signed by the team.

Coskey with a 1G+3A in a 5-3 win over Kitchener. Putting him 5th in the league in scoring. He is an O A but had his jaw broken last year so he wants to prove himself. Playing with Perfetti he could end up with some scary numbers. He has a major league shot and hope he continues to develop.

I thought they signed Varlamov to lure over Petrov

I don't think we have any wingers that naturally play their off side so adding Holmstrom to the mix in that regard is a nice addition. I presume he can also play the left side if need be (but I think our organization is more stacked there and its easier to find).

Great to hear about his progression. Hopefully he stays healthy, continues to grow and learn. Despite his seemingly quick acclimation, there's no rush for him to be promoted, either this year or next. If he makes it a legit question - good problem to have.

Holmstrom—a lefty—cut down the right-wing wall in search of his first professional goal late in the second period. He earned possession of the puck after outmuscling 6-foot-4 Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defenseman Matt Abt in neutral ice. The play ended with Abt tripping up the shifty forward and putting the Sound Tigers on their third power play of the game.
“I think I’m more of a threat on the right wing and can protect the puck more easily,” Holmstrom said. “I just tried to get the puck to the net and get the goalie to move. He hugged the far post.”

Well, friendship is a strong word here. They share the same agent.

Buttttt.... this ain't no conspiracy.

That's EXACTLY why Varlamov is here.

Geez Louise!

Newkirk's production is very inspiring! Not easy to pick up your stats pace a year after both linemates move on to the pros.

Also, glad to see where Salo is at right now. Things didn't look so good the first 8 games or so.

Happy that Salo seems to have picked up his game, and I think that Bolduc may be big for us one day.

6'4', 211 lb 18 year old, who seems to be more defensive minded (low shot ttl). We need some size and grit at LHD, and he might fit the bill.

Thompson had Holmstron at LW, which I liked, but the kid stated that he likes coming down the RW... I wonder if he is playing both sides?

Rengi... any insight here? Still very early on, but I have hopes for him, and want to see more of what's going on in BP, lol.

Edit: We must have been on the same wavelength, Rengi. ;)

Dood, it is still pretty early to tell... the tried him (Holmstrom) for the first 4 games on LW (on a line with Holmstrom - Jobst - Fritz).
He did not look out of place there, so my gut is he can play also his offwing, but sure it is easier for him to come from the wall on RW, which his strength is in his game like he mentioned. Just a matter of some adjustments for a still 18-year-old! ;)

On Holmstrom it could mean that they have really high hopes for him and want to see how he does on LW because they see Eberle and eventually Wahlstrom as the top6 RW?

This is just a guess on my part. Bellows is still developing but looks like a middle6 more of a 3rd line LW. Beauviller is looking a lot better but it remains to be seen if he can cement himself as a top6 LW. Lee won’t age well.

I think it’s fair to say that Holmstrom has the highest ceiling of any LW in the organization. Not saying he will reach it but the potential is there.

oddly, Wahlstrom can actually play LW and has done so. I think Lou and Trotz are more traditional and prefer the potions are matched up with handedness.

Thanks for the update brother. He seems like the kinda kid that will play all scenarios, a complete player, with size and speed.

Nice

You're welcome, brother. Yes, you are right he is very versatile in his game with a strong technical sound foundation to his game like most Swedish players.
His on-ice vision and IQ is very strong helping him adjust so quickly. He sure is a keeper and let's hope he remains healthy!

I think Bellows and Holmstrom have the same ceiling really. Different players, but the same ceiling as far as offensive impact is concerned. To me, one is your typical finesse type player and the other is a power forward and we all know powerforwards take longer to develop..i would not count Bellows out. He's still better than MDC was at the same time and look where he is! Our top 6! Also, this is only Bellow's second year in the AHL. He had 19 points last year...so I think he will break out this year and we may see him in an Isles uniform next year as a call up
