The two rules of HFboards:

1. You are NOT allowed to talk about the Leaf fans who invade every Islander thread to say how much we're gonna suck.
2. You are NOT allowed to talk about the Ranger fans who invade every Wahlstrom thread to say how much he's gonna suck.
I don’t see any if Yearly Lottery’s rules on that list

What a weird tweet for a University's twitter account to post.
Gotta guess Walhstrom leaving rumors, were a hot topic of conversation among their fans.

Maybe they thought a public denial would end the speculation.

I’m meh on where he plays.

Scoring is never going to be his problem.

His play will elevate when he’s playing with higher skilled players. This is the perfect opportunity to getting stronger and faster and learn the defensive side of the game.

We've got to hope we are not Charlie Brown as Lucy holds the ball . . .

Gross from Newsday mentioned on Andy Graz's podcast that Lou thought they might be able to bring him over after this year. we all know Lou Lams is not one for opening up to anyone outside the inner circle but maybe there is some fire to that smoke.

That would be great

If this kid could 1. improve his skating and b. become a Center, that would be a huge coup. Of course, that's a lot of "ifs". If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle.
He’s really good along boards for sure and plays using his size well. I’m not 100 percent sold on his offensive upside he may be just a bottom six forward but if he can play center it would help tremendously he could really be a shutdown type with his size.

Reading comments from BC fans on Wally seeems to have a lot of Lady Jane in him. That’s not good also that he is not as good as Kreider when he was at BC. The lazy/ lack of intensity comments really scare me about this kid

That was one of his flaws when he was drafted, I believe. It’s something that can be improved w intervention, but he’ll probably never have the drive of JT or the motor of Cizikas, eg.

BC fans are likely bitter about their team's very disappointing start and are certainly hearing the rumors about Wahlstrom wanting out. It's nice to hear what people who are watching the games think of him, but I'd think that they'll be looking for reasons to bash the kid given what's going on over there.

In his latest Q&A Pronman seemed down on Wahlstrom. Doesn't like his compete level.

The Athletic did an article listing what the writer thought was each team's worst draft based on who they picked and who they missed. Here is the Islander entry.

New York Islanders: 2011

They could have had: #7 Mark Scheifele, #58 Nikita Kucherov and #104 Johnny Gaudreau
Instead they picked: #5 Ryan Strome, #50 Johan Sundstrom and #95 Robbie Russo
Admit it, you were expecting the Islanders to clock in with a Mike Milbury draft. Instead we only have to go back to 2011, as three 80-plus point forwards slip through their grasp. And it doesn’t stop there; they could also have picked #39 John Gibson and #64 Vincent Trocheck instead of #34 Scott Mayfield and #63 Andrey Pedan.

I could see Wahlstrom being another one of those classic “consensus” picks that this organization drafts that doesn’t really live up to the hype. His shot is excellent and that alone will likely give him an ample amount of chances in this league, but whenever I watched him during his draft year, I always came away with the feeling that something was missing upstairs.

If the Isles could get Sorokin here next year, that would be fantastic. Koskinen has settled in well in Edmonton, potentially dislodging Talbot as the starter, which is a good sign for the KHL to NHL transition. Hopefully it will happen now that there is some stability in the organization.

I hate those late round could of hads. Just on merit argue they were bad picks and badly developed, fine with that. But "you could have had this guy" is dumb.

I agree. How many of the late rounder "could haves" make an impact right away too? Finding a diamond in the rough happens, but it's a crap shoot at a certain point in the draft.
