Yes. Teams in Canada are gonna get killed on B2Bs and on travel. We're pretty fortunate on our schedule compared to others.

Our division difficulty nullifies that. Every team is competitive, sans NJD.

I was looking at the Devils roster. Not disagreeing that they will be the bottom of the division and will struggle to compete. I am mildly surprised they haven't taken a flier on a cap casualty. They are so devoid of offensive talent I believe a Tyler Johnson certainly could have helped them. At the least he could have taken some pressure off the young guys. Palmeiri, Gusev and Zajac all UFA at the end of the year. Take a look at the roster without them. Likely could have had Johnson and perhaps a 2nd or a slight retention (10%).

Freidman mentioned that the Isles were discussing Yandle with FLA taking salary back at one point. Could you imagine Yandle playing for Trotz?

As a third pairing, PP specialist, yeah I could see it. I'd also see him getting benched quite a bit

I doubt it, God leaks more than Lou to the media
I was talking with my brother how it's a funny change of pace. In this world it's like you can't get any information fast enough, but Lou takes that away. Even on stuff you know will happen, you just want the confirmation asap but you're forced to wait with Lou

Lamoriello just wants to teach us all about patience. ;)

Well yesterdays practice should say a lot. Missing from that trimmed down single team was all three of Koivula, Wahlstrom and Aho. Ladd wasnt in it either which is comforting news.

Bolduc seems like he may actually have a shot, either as the 7th defender or the taxi spot; depending on what we wind up doing with Hickey.

Bellows seems like he is making the team and Czarnik is a safe bet to be either on the opening 23 or taxi.

Timashov not being inked yet and worse not being in camp is mind-boggling to me. Why even trade for the guy?

So, if I were to guess; this would be the 23-man and taxi squad (I listed six on the later, in order of that I predict they will keep and not knowing exactly how many).....

I still lean on Bolduc being in Bridgeport so he can get more ice time, and I think Ollie just didn't make it, which is unfortunate.....

2021 New York Islander (predicted roster)

Anders Lee- Mathew Barzal- Jordan Eberle
Anthony Beauvillier- Brock Nelson- Josh Bailey
Keiffer Bellows- Jean Gabriel Pageau- Michael Dal Colle
Matt Martin- Casey Cizikas- Cal Clutterbuck

Ross Johnston- Austin Czarnik

Adam Pelech- Ryan Pulock
Nick Leddy- Scott Mayfield
Andy Greene- Noah Dobson

Thomas Hickey

Semyon Varlamov- Ilya Sorokin

Taxi:

  1. Corey Schneider (G)
  2. Leo Komarov (C/RW)
  3. Sebastian Aho (D)
  4. A.J. Greer (LW)
  5. Samuel Bolduc (D)
  6. Dmytro Timashov (LW)* (assuming he ever signs)

I guess if Timashov is out, no big deal. Gave up nothing and the team that he came from couldn't use him says something. Question regarding Bolduc - Burn a year off the ELC? Is it his play orv play plus salary that makes this worthwhile?

Bolduc will be with BPort this season, no later than when the AHL starts things up in February.

No reason for the team not to take a look at Bolduc now for a bit.

Aho, however, will have to go through waivers to be sent back to BPort.

This all makes sense. Might as well have him skate with the big boys during practice until BP opens up. If he continues his progression, he may very well pass Aho on our depth chart before the season's over. I'm all for Trotz's conservative approach towards prospects. But I also like him acknowledging the ones that make progress and make it difficult for the team to send them down. It will be a real nice problem to have next year if Greene plays well and shows he's got something left still but Bolduc pushes him out of the lineup.

I like Johnston and Bellows on JGP's wings. Before we knock Johnston , lets see what he can do next to Pageau for 10-15 games.

At the least, it's good to see he supplanted MDC or maybe Trotz will do this just to open up the season vs the Rangers.

It's sad that replacing MDC with Johnston is actually an upgrade offense-wise
