If you look at the Atlantic division

The Leafs have
Matthews
JT
Marner

Boston has
Berg
March
Pasta

Tampa has
Point
Stamkos
Kuch

I honestly can’t think of a team that needs Laf more than the Habs, can you?

lol, love that you stopped at the three best teams in the Atlantic. Detroit and Ottawa could sure use a player of his ilk more than Montreal.

The Jackets could have a line of Dubois, Lafreniere, and Texier so people could spend hours on message boards arguing over a nickname for the line. English speakers could be tacky. French speakers could be serious.

Tough to say, but I’m hopeful he ends up in Montréal or Ottawa.

Business, personal, professional... either of those two would be good for everyone.

...and another elite player in the Atlantic.

There’s plenty teams and fanbases that need/deserve Lafresne more. But I doubt there’s a fanbase that wants him as badly as Montreal.

This may be Leafs and McDavid all over again. Just hope the Habs fans stay classy and don’t **** all over Lafresne and the team that drafts him cause of butt hurt feelings forever.
Your first sentence is 100% accurate and, as a Habs fan, our market's occasional outburst of tribalism embarrasses me. The majority of Habs fans have moved on from the quaint notion of having a heritage team, but that vocal minority... good grief.

As for your second sentence, why would Habs fans be more upset than anyone else if he goes elsewhere? It's not like the kid chooses his draft position.

Holy overreaction to a one goal loss + empty netter on a second half of a back-to-back.

You should see the Habs board...Even people at work this morning making all kinds of dumb comments. Total lack of perspective in this stupid city. We really need more big league sports teams.

Isn't Lafreinere a LW? I think if their was one position Montreal doesn't really need it's LW(not saying that Lafreinere wouldn't be an improvement)

The team has been mediocre for years can't blame the fans for being pissed the team isint good. When's the last time we had a ppg player?

Why would Habs need Lafreniere? He's a skilled winger.

They need an elite 1 C more, like Quinton Byfield.

Or were you trying to make a point about him being French Canadian? In which case Pastrnak isn't exactly from Boston.
you took the worst example, Boston is well known to take a lot of Massachusetts boi

LW :

Tatar: movable, had an atrocious start of the season
Drouin: had his best moments at RW in Tampa
Domi: plays center atm

so ye, we need LW like Lafrenière

If any team could use that type of injection it's OTT. I feel so bad for that fanbase right now.

Your right. They probably wouldn't. It would be quite pathetic to have missed out on a 1st overall to another team and then hold a grudge about it forever. Only the most entitled fans would do something like that.
