HF boards
If posters like Fourier and Mowzie are bothered by it, then I am too.

I also come here for hockey.

As a hot-blooded, hetero, hockey playing Dad, I can also admit that a scintillating pick appeals to the inner boy/bro, and I get that people want to "decompress a bit" and have that "virtual beer with the boys" mentality for a hot second... but why not just head over to the chive or barstool sports for some humor, immaturity and some boob pics? There are places for that.

I just think this is a place to put on your "grown up" demeanor and behave as you would in mixed, (but aligned on hockey) company. I mean if you are a hetero guy, imagine your buddy brought his brand new girlfriend to watch the game and your other buddy brought his 12 year old stat-junky son.

interesting how this is now how people make their own opinions.

Just like TV. No problem torturing a guy or blowing someone to bits but oh my golly show a bit of nudity and here come the censors.

There's a difference between TV and a hockey forum.

And do you see gifs of people getting blown up here?

Swearing good.
Girls bad.

North America in a nutshell.

It's not the girls that are the issue, it's the objectifying. I apologize if I'm mistaken, but I don't think anyone has any issues with the Supergirl stuff that @Cloned posts. But ogling over nearly nude women on a hockey forum? Completely different.

For the record I’ve always tried to make sure that any Melissa gif I’ve posted is tasteful and not a half naked picture of her.

I’ve also never posted a bouncy gif.

If it bothers people I’ll stop doing it but I just thought I’d make myself clear on those two points.

That's completely true, and why I mentioned I was completely ok with the Melissa thing. Someone asked you about a more revealing Melissa pic, and I remember you saying that you would stay classy. I think the big thing is just steer clear of inappropriate pics, which you have already done.

This is coming from a guy who scrolls past that shit and doesn't get or involve himself in that Melissa lovefest that has occurred the last little while but I'm not going to pretend like it personally offends me when I have the means at my finger tips to ignore them.

How do you ignore a post in a thread without ignoring the poster? Especially if 90% of the content from that poster is relevant to the sport of hockey? You are missing the point.

personally I don't mind them

I'm actually surprised more people aren't offended by all the swearing and abuse of the officials we post

Ya, definitely doing this for attention. Some people post bouncing chests for attention, other people post how it bothers them. This post is me trying to regain relevance on the board, and definitely not because it's annoying to come to a hockey page and have to sift through other guys masterbating subjects. This is all about me.
Sift through? Each page isn't littered with those gifs my guy acting like conversations are lost in the vast amount of gifs being posted is you looking for attention. You literally started this thread asking if anybody else was offended how is that not looking for attention from other members of this board for some sort of a validation for your complaint. Acting like it is some huge burdon to scroll down a page past something you don't like or hit the next page button is what I'm offended by.

Why would you want to see posts from a member when some of said posts "offend you"?

Lmao pictures of woman or gifs of woman are toxic but the general posting attitudes of pretty much everyone on this board isn't?

The general posting attitudes of some people on this board is a huge problem. It's a different problem. There can be more than one problem.

@Oil Dood inspired me to change my attitude, to post more respectfully. @Mowzie is encouraging me to report more inappropriate and broadly derogatory content.

We can all at least try.

I'm all for banning those posts. I dont have kids so I'm not as sensitive about it, but I do have a girlfiend and I'd rather not have to explain myself for being on this site, and quite frankly I don't enjoy those pics, especially while there is actual discussion attempting to go on around them

What confuses me the most are the people that are defending this (admittedly there are only a select few, but still). Do half-naked women enhance your HFOil experience? I get if you don't take offense to it, by why push the issue if others clearly do? It's not like this is the only place you can access this material.

And we can always go back to this as a bounce.gif replacement:

I find your one sided relationship with Melissa cute actually. I was moreso referencing the more graphic stuff from other posters.

I actually am personally about equally annoyed about how over the top the ref bitching is on this board.

But at least that is entirely on topic. Big difference.

There might be and if there are I do apologize. It was never my intent to offend or make the place unreadable/unbrowseable. I will stop if that is the general consensus here though.

Guess my new avatar was more prophetic than I thought...

I celebrate Oilers victories and the female form, and they go together like PB&C. I vote for mild bounce, and I am proud to support I Am The Liquor’s campaign for mod status.
Seriously? Why encourage him? He lives for that kind of shit.

Didn't we all watch Kassian on Johns last night?

I think we can all agree that the .gif's of well-endowed women are unnecessary. I don't see anything wrong with posting images of beautiful (or slightly-above average in @Cloned 's case) women on here as a celebratory act in a PGT or GDT, but there are a lot of people here who browse at work or among their family. Shouldn't have to risk your young children seeing something lewd like DDD cups sprawled across your screen just to see what the boys are saying about AA fumbling a puck, leading to a GA.

Usually I'd recommend that it's a slippery slope in most cases of moderation, but this borders on straight up pornography. Keep the pics of pretty girls faces, get rid of the .gif's of them whipping their mammaries into my head.

I watch the game on streaming sites so I am pretty desensitized to smut and toxicity by the time I get to the PGT. I can understand how it would annoy other people though, especially those who browse the site at work.

I’ll add myself to the list of people that doesn’t comment often but lurks daily and thought about mentioning the environment I felt it was creating which was an overly hetero-normative one and growing more degrading to women in my opinion. Women fight against being hyper-sexualized and reduced to only physical value in their lives constantly and it’s not innocent and fun in real life circumstances and often ranging from shameful to terrifying. I felt it was growing more excessive and it made me uncomfortable thinking of others feeling unwelcome or that HF wasn’t a place they felt part of the community. I don’t believe anyone posted anything with ill intent and understand initial concerns on freedom of expression curtailed but this is always a better site the more nuanced the conversation becomes and the more open and friendly the environment.
A personal thank you to Mowzie, a poster long respected by me, for having the character to open this conversation when I did not.

So you believe I should take down 1) my Christmas tree and lights in public spaces because of the 2% of the population it might offend? If there’s anything this generation needs to resist against, it’s the 2) tyranny of the minority. I severely dislike this primitive and backwards way of thinking. We should be building bridges between different points of views. Not randomly accommodate people for the sake of accommodating them.

Check my posts. I never have nor will I ever post any “babe” pictures on this site. I don’t enjoy it and I think it’s in bad taste. I just don’t want to tell others to stop what they’re doing it - especially if the 2) majority of posters don’t have a problem with it.

1 Your Xmas tree and lights are on your private property. This forum is privately owned and operated and has rules that posters have to abide by.

2 The term you should be looking for is tyranny of the majority: Tyranny of the majority - Wikipedia

Plus you can find booby pictures on thousands of different places on the internet. Is anyone here or anywhere else stopping you from viewing those pics? Why do you need to look at them here?

Sounds like rampant entitlement.

What your thread has done though is maybe allow some posters who wouldn't have spoken up to do so, and based on a quick perusal of the thread there are a few who would rather not see Melissa in the threads. If it bothers enough people, I will stop it.
