Completely fair post. I didn't mean to come across as sensitive to the issue.

Don't worry, you didn't come across as insensitive at all. :thumbu:

Like I said, there are different perspectives, so might as well leave the fun in areas where everyone can appreciate it.

For **** sakes, this is disgraceful. I mean, see the reply to fuswald

Disgraceful? Calm down Jimmi. I'm not saying that their opinions don't matter.

Anyway, I'm in agreement that the "babe" stuff should be abolished if it bothers some people so lets just leave it at that.

I'm in the group that is not offended but find I cannot go on GDT at work or when family is around therefore i miss many GDT posts and while i don't post often i go on the boards daily to read opinions so personally I'm against them for selfish reasons that I cannot read the GDT too often

I agree that the more inappropriate pictures (including the bouncing ones) should stop.

There are people on this board (me included, as a Muslim) who don't believe in looking at some of the pictures. I'm okay with people mentioning or even posting appropriate pictures of women for 'luck' or themed GDTs, but the ones that sexualize an objectify women should stop.

As a Christian man, absolutely agree. Truth be told, I've been seriously thinking about cutting bait with this board exactly for this specific reason. (The loosened censor has been bothering me as well.)

It boggles my mind how we say that rape is wrong, assault is wrong, and women should be empowered, not enslaved, #metoo, etc...yet somehow, we still go gaga for the visual prostitution known as pornography, and we still eat up media which degrades women into objects for pleasure, not humans who are worthy of dignity and respect.

It honestly does not bother me, but I do understand that people do have different values, beliefs, religions etc that view and post here + the female posters probably don't want to see that shit. The guys would not like it if the females posted bouncy gifs of guys shlongs flapping around in speedos LMAO

This was gonna be my passive aggressive solution. A dick pic for every boob pic. Just for balance. Then I thought about it, and came up with the novel idea to have a discussion lol.

It really does not matter what your background is. Why even bring that up. In the end, the few posters ran the superman girl meme into the ground and it has stopped being funny long time ago

I mean, Im into some pretty weird stuff. I could start posting that. See how many people are still comfortable.

I think discussion is the prudent option.

Good discussion, this isn’t the place for that kind of thing. Doesn’t bother me, but if it bothers others it should be removed.

That being said, this thread could end up being a bit of a minefield, I hope it doesn’t continue that way.

For those who don’t understand why it might seem offensive, maybe take a step back and realize that we’re all different, and everyone reacts differently to different things. Like a few have mentioned, many people would be uncomfortable if the script was flipped and a bunch of bouncing pics of endowed men started popping up. So if that might offend you, or cause you to not want to post/read the forums, maybe you can try and understand why others find the current atmosphere to be unbearable.

The phrase “walk a mile in their shoes” is a very important lesson that has been all but forgotten in the Internet age, it would be nice to see that kind of mindset start trending.

Is it that hard to understand? It showed how different religions/cultures encourage us not to look at pictures like those, so we might as well cut out posting them to prevent offending anyone. I didn't have an issue with the Supergirl thing. There weren't inappropriate pictures thrown around like some of the gifs in today's pgt.

Because to assume all the users are Hetro men is the problem.

I really don't want to get into this but what you are saying has nothing to do with it.

In my experience the majority of hetro women and others all enjoy pictures or other types of media of those they deem attractive. It's basic for everyone across the board.

The issue is that posting anything that makes a person feel uncomfortable with their own sexuality or religion, on a public board, is wrong.

I have to say. I miss the old days where this wasn't the case. Those days were far more honest in their ignorance. But we now know that things we say and do can potentially hurt and alienate others.

We can't ever know where that line is so a zero tolerance policy is best.

Its about gaining maturity as a society.

Oh my god a beautiful woman being posted on the internet who would have ever imagined. Listen I understand it may offend some people but isn’t that half the problem, people are offended by everything nowadays. It’s not like people are posting porn on here lighten up a bit. The fact of the matter is I could post a picture a small puppy on here and some psycho would say it offends them. Just because you happen to be different doesn’t make you special or it shouldn’t mean you should have more rights then somebody who isn’t.

I think it's fine for someone to bring up their background if they feel comfortable saying it. It's admirable to know we got a diverse group of guys here who love the Oilers and hockey and we can all share something we all have in common. I'm a Christian myself, but I enjoy the hockey talk every now and then.

It wasn’t funny to begin with, but I don’t even think those pics are the point the OP is getting at. It’s the ‘bounce’ stuff that is the most ridiculous. Makes the entire board look like a bunch of drooling idiots. Imagine trying to browse the post game threads on public transportation or in the lunch room at work. It’s embarrassing.

That's not the issue. A picture of a woman isn't a problem. It's when you post images of the bouncing one's and posting more and more of the same theme to get a rise out of the other men here. People do get more offended now a days, but this is a sensible reason to be offended.

I agree the people are offended by too much nowadays, but if you should be able to see how posting near naked photos/gifs of women on a hockey forum can be offensive to people.

He isn't so much as offended as put off by the fact he cannot browse in front of family or at work.

Correct me if I am misinterpreting @Mowzie

Doesn't bother me, they mostly show up in the GTs, so I just avoid those if I'm at work or if others can see my computer/phone.

Just start reporting the posts citing Rule 5 of the forum rules.

5) Offensive Content: This is a site for ages 13 and up. Minors will be viewing our content, and threads are searchable on the web. Do not post slurs and stereotypes, sexually-oriented material, gore (human or animal), or any other potentially objectionable material. Our users are diverse in all ways so please respect that. Do not circumvent the profanity filter with alternate spellings/characters. Simply type out the word and let the filter handle it. Wishing injury on players or other persons is considered offensive.

So some people on the forum have assumed I’m a guy and I don’t always go out of my way to correct them.

I’ll flat out say it now. I’m one of the female posters on the forum.

I didn’t really care about the Benoist stuff because it seemed goofy but it was done in the spirit of fun.

The bouncy gifs are unnecessary though on a hockey forum.

I scroll past those and just focus on hockey discussions but it does feel a little gratuitous and uncomfortable because it’s not something I expected I’d have to come across when I’m trying to talk hockey.

Just my two cents.
