It probably wasn't Avs they talked to, unless they wanted Redmond. Wilson and Guenin should be untradeable.

Surprise surprise, abasin is attacking others for not agreeing with his overblown criticism once again.

You know what your problem is man? <snip> not being able to acknowledge an underperforming player when they see one.

Well, evidently it's not just me (and a couple dozen other posters in here). Both Patrick Roy and O'Reilly himself know that O'R isn't playing well:

"I don't think I'm playing to my strengths — being good with my stick and using my body when I have to. It's something that's been addressed with the coaches and stuff. It's frustrating, but I have to take responsibility for the way I've been playing and find a way to get it back." - Ryan O'Reilly

"We try him as a center, we put him on the wing — we've tried a lot of things and, obviously, it hasn't worked out in getting him back on track," Roy said of O'Reilly.

Quotes from today's Denver Post.

From Friedman's 30 thoughts. Doesn't look good for getting a defenceman.

Avs have 8 defencemen on 1-way contracts.

Not surprising. The league has been going this way for about a couple of years now. Its is officially now the most valuable position in the league.

Not even a little bit close. Could Gormley one day become a top-4 guy? Maybe...maybe not.

There's still a chance you're trading for Cam Barker here.

Thanks, Bender. I don't get to see much junior or AHL hockey, so it's hard for me to judge other teams' prospects before they hit the NHL.

I was just looking at Gormley, and wondering if he's Arizona's version of Elliott - very good skills in juniors, ample openings on the NHL team…… but he never makes it in any real capacity. You know?

Then again, Arizona is coached by Tippett, and he's a stickler with his defensive system, so I could see a young guy having to work harder to play for him than your average coach. That could be a factor, I suppose.

I see Gormley fairly often. He's going to be an NHL'er. He could be now actually.

In today's waiver news, Avs place Ben Street on waivers.
In today's other news, Ben Street is part of the Avs organization???

He's been injured since camp. They can't send him down until he's healthy and then he has to go through waivers.

He's probably got a better shot than Elliott, whom if he doesn't somehow make it as a PP QB specialist, he probably won't be a depth guy kind of player. I don't see that kind of restriction with Gormley.

I also think he'll be an NHLer at some point. The Barker trade was just an example to show what could happen. However, how good he gets at the NHL level remains to be seen. People expecting him to just come on over and slot into our top-4 would end up pretty disappointed, in my opinion.

Arizona can't really have it both ways. If he's a wonderful upcoming talent, then you put him in your lineup so he starts to get used to the NHL level OR he's not good enough to crack your lineup and you stop asking for an insane return that you're never going to get. (speculation on my part)

In any case, if there's a few guys who know what he's capable of, it's probably Roy and Tourigny...they've seen him a ton in junior.

Interesting on Street. LE almost has too many forwards. Someone else is going to Fort Wayne unless there are new injuries.

Vincour can't be far from ready either.
Gonna be interesting real soon with our bottom-6 and who gets sent down and the same then with the Monsters. We might find some good players like Bourke in the ECHL very soon.

Its going to happen. That is the legacy of this franchise
Get a bunch of forwards, trade one for an impact Dman
-Nolan for Ozo
-Deader for Blake
-Stewart/Kirk for EJ
-Rolston..lol for Bourque

just a matter of time and for who. At this point when it does happen it'll be entirely anticlimatic like every one going "finally"

Caverns of Draconis
Sekera
Giordano
Yandle
Josi
Myers
Edler
Staal
Gardiner
Petry

IMO those 7 Dmen are the 7 most likely to be acquired if we move ROR, and in the order of preference from my perspective.

I think 1 for 1 is a pretty fair trade for all of them except Gardiner, Petry, and Staal.

I'd be fine with getting any of those guys too. For some reason I just have this feeling that it will end up being Myers or Sekera that we trade for. Myers is alright and I feel he could really further his game on a new team, but he's a RHD so either he'd need to adjust to playing the Left side, or Barrie would get moved down and Guenin traded.

A right side of EJ, Myers, and Barrie would be pretty strong though. With Hejda and Stuart on the Left side for now, and Bigras/Siemens taking there spots in a couple years.

I think if its possible to try and land a Giordano or a Yandle in a straight up 1 for 1 it has to be at the draft. No one is going to do anything now obviously. But also I just think a ROR trade is too major for a deadline type of a thing.

You'd be fine with moving O'Reilly straight up for Sekera, an impending UFA? Are you sure about that?

Giordano will certainly not be moved, I don't see Nashville wanting to move Josi either since he's young, signed to a great deal and their best left handed defensman. Yandle is in an interesting situation, but I'm not sure if Arizona would move him for someone they might really struggle to re-sign. If they move Yandle I feel it almost signals a quick rebuild/retool, might only have limited interest in ROR. Myers is intriguing, but I think he has far far less value than Sabres fans think. Without his size people wouldn't care about him half as much. Edler...I hate this guy. No thanks for ROR. Staal, not been very good, impending UFA. Ditto for Petry x2. Gardiner is an interesting project pickup, though I think O'Reilly commands far more value than a guy who's been healthy scratched.

A 1 for 1 or close to it deal isn't going to happen for ROR. It will be pieces with upside for ROR.

Just from the first quote I'm super skeptical on this.
