This is excellent news. Airport merch seems to have a disproportionate influence on public perceptions of what is popular locally. There's Canes gear to be had at RDU, but it's hidden away so you really have to be looking to find it.

CLT has to be one of the worst mid-sized airports in North America. The place is always a total clown show, every time I go there. Security, terminals, scheduling, cleanliness, everything. Being a USAir hub was completely fitting -- maybe the merger with American has improved that aspect, at least.

Then there's RDU which is the extreme polar opposite. A decent sized airport has no business being as quiet/clean/efficient as RDU. It's like a trip to a mall which happens to have airplane departures.

It really hasn't. Last summer when the Boy Scouts had their national jamboree in WV, they flew most of the scouts through CLT and yeah, it was a shitshow

I used to fly all over the country on a weekly basis, and RDU is far and away the best airport I've encountered. Tampa is a close 2nd, although they dropped down a little when they moved the rental cars offsite.

Having RDU as your home base is a real treat if you are a traveler. I've got it timed now so I arrive at my gate as soon as it starts boarding- usually 25 minutes flash to bang from getting in the Uber at my house.

We've been eyeballing the market for a year in hopes of finding something with another bedroom and a little better floorplan, but every time we've walked through a house (probably 8 or 10), we've decided we'd rather just stick with the devil we know.

That was before my dumb ass flooded a bathroom and forced us into a surprise renovation, starting tomorrow. Now that we're putting some money into this place, who knows how long it'll take for us to find something worth moving for. We're starting to wonder if we'd be better off buying something and renovating it before we move in, but we probably wouldn't be ready to tackle that for another year or two.
