TBL might claim reimer with Vasi out long-term. If your going to waive reimer, I'd rather get something out of it because he has shown pretty capable this preseason/camp.

Let them. He can inadvertently help Detroit make the playoffs by going to someone we're competing against.

Also, looking at a Ben Chiarot buyout as of next year, it would be better to trade him at 35 to 50% retained. It may not return much but long term it helps the team more.

An Andrew Copp buyout in 2025 might be needed. If this preseason is any indication, he's looking even slower than last year.

lalonde's comments on copp do not indicate that at all though. He said he looks great and it shows how having a preseason really helps players get acclimated...

Hopefully McIsaac gets picked up today. He looks like a bottom pair defender at the AHL level. I'd rather someone else take that spot than him.

The eyeball test looks like he's losing a step every year in his blueline to blueline speed. He has looked inconsequential in all the preseason games I've watched.

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings today assigned forwards Alexandre Doucet, Marco Kasper and Amadeus Lombardi, defensemen Albert Johansson, Antti Tuomisto, Eemil Viro and William Wallinder, and goaltender Sebastian Cossa to the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins. Additionally, the Red Wings released forwards Joel L’Esperance, Riley Sawchuk, Dominik Shine and Tyler Spezia, defenseman Josiah Didier, and goaltender Michael Hutchinson from their professional tryouts.

Some people have short memories, Ed was coming off shoulder surgery and who knew how he would heal up. Yzerman always take about how these are great problems
To have, he will figure it out

I think the simplest fix is the most likely one. Danielson, Ed, and Berggren all go down. A defenseman is traded at the deadline or sooner. Wouldn’t be shocked if we flipped a goalie after carrying 3 for a bit.

To make easy decisions you don't need good executives, those can make everyone. I think Edvinsson belongs on this team, he clearly one of Top 4 defensmen on this team. If you are as good of a GM as people say Yzerman is, you solve this problem - he basically said that himself before the camp. If Edvinsson is going down, because Yzerman is afraid to hurt Chiarot's feelings, he might be not up for the job.

Gost was signed to a one year team friendly contract. The team doesn't need him because Stevie got Petry for cheap.

The right thing to do is to call teams, see if anyone wants Gost, then trade him to the team of his choice. You need to treat players right, or else the team will have trouble signing free agents in the future. Besides, Stevie has always done the player right by trading them so they have a better shot at having ice time, for example:

- Zadina released from his contract after no trades were available
- Kampher to AZ for future consideration
- Yamamoto buyout
- Vrana for peanuts
- Givani for an AHLer
- Timashov for future considertaion
- Kaski for an AHLer

Then sit Chiarot's ass down, lol.

It's going to be a good year for Griffins hockey for sure. They're getting a huge infusion of talent.

Or he doesn't want to give away players for free through waivers and knows that this is the absolute worst time of year to try to move someone. Anyways, Chiarot is not getting waived in the next week. You can all put your dicks back in your pants because it isn't going to happen.

Ed will go down to begin. Injuries will happen and he will be up in no time. At that point you explore trades or waivers if you still need to open a spot permanently. If you have actual aspirations of being competitive, depth is genuinely important.

If that is case that means:

- Yzerman cannot make tough decisions
- Yzerman does not set priorities right
- Yzerman has no coherent plan for the next phase

Getting value for something that has no value is not going to win Stanley Cup, proper development of top prospects does.

By sending Edvinsson down, he basically is not dealing in short-term interest of the team, as Simon is clearly a better on the path playoffs this year. He is also not dealing in long-term interesent of the team, as Simon is an imporant component of a future contending Red Wings team and his further development is better served in the NHL - you can't learn how to defend Austin Matthewses of this world in the AHL.

Basically if Yzerman sends Edvinsson down, he'll need to grow a pair, because without it is difficult to get this franchise back on track.

Shipping Ed to GR would be such a cowardly decision. It basically tells every kid that it's impossible to beat a veteran for a roster spot. Your only chance is an injury.
If he spends the first 20+ games in GR, I'll agree. But I'm not expecting that to happen. There's nothing magical about playing games 1-77 versus games 6-82. Ed does deserve to play with the big club, it's just a matter of how soon they can do so without losing an asset for nothing.

Yeah players like Seider and Raymond have never made the team at a young age.

This is where somebody else jumps in to prematurely declare Raymond a bust.

Thankfully Yzerman and his staff have much greater patience and foresight than most of us Internet geniuses. This kid isn't playing soon enough! That kid played too soon! The sky is falling and something is rotten in Denmark!

Ray only got a shot due to injury. Seider got his job because he had a pulse and no one else did.

There aren't 2 or 3 better defensemen than Ed on this roster let alone 6 or 7.

Yeah players like Seider and Raymond have never made the team at a young age.

In order to make place for Raymond on that team, they only needed to send the corps of Bobby Ryan back to graveyard, Seider was set from the beginning, he did not have seven NHL defensemen to compete with (he actually didn't have any if we look how Hronek's and Leddy's seasons went).
But all of this is moot if Edvinsson stays up.
