Who scored the only goals for NYI in game 1 of the 1983 Stanley Cup Finals when Billy Smith stood on his head by shutting out the powerful Oiler offense?

This Swedish athlete actually played his hockey in Finland and was the first international player selected in the NHL draft.

Name him and the year he was selected.

Bonus points for naming the team and what his overall selection # was.

Excellent 'jump to mind' answer. I knew I should have toughened this question up.

Only because it is that time year where questions like are asked. He came to North America for one year and hated it. Blues had him in Kansas city and reportedly hated

Who scored the shortest game 7 OT goal in playoff history?

Was it Marty Gelinas, for Calgary in '04? I remember it was on a powerplay that had started at the end of regulation---when the Flames gave up the tying goal with seconds left---and so the goal would've come somewhere under 2 minutes of time in the OT.

Speaking of Game 7 OT's...

1) Justin Williams became just the 4th player to factor in the scoring of 2 different Game 7 OT goals (he assisted on the one this year, and the one in 2014 with LA). The 1st player was pre-expansion---George Gee, both times with Detroit---but who were the other 2 players to do this? Hint: the other 2 players scored one, assisted on another

2) Who were the only 3 players whose Game 7 OT goal was unassisted? Hint: one was in the '80s, one in the '90s, and one in the 2010's.

I need to think more on question 1), but for question 2:
Lafontaine, Matteau, Burrows?

Jonathan Bernier's one.

Being the season opener for the Kings and Ducks (with two potential games to be involved), I'd bet the other two come from the same game.

There must be more than 3 because in 1997 in Japan alone, Mattias Ohlund, Dave Scatchard, and Espen Knutsen all made their NHL debuts.

I forgot the word first. :D

There have only been 34 official NHL games played outside NA so the number can't be too high. 1998 and 2000 have four and three debuts. All of these games open the season so there's a higher than average rate of debuts. I just find it very interesting that for a small portion of the NHL, their first game is in on neutral ground.

I'm going to guess Nashville (whatever their arena name back then was, it's Bridgestone arena today).
Springfield Civic Center 11/17/79. Hartford Civic Center had some construction going on so the Whalers played in Springfield. It was a 4-0 victory for the Whalers.
