Jim Pappin!!

(At first, I thought you were referring to Craig Simpson, but the 'OT goal in finals' part was off... well, he wasn't really traded straight-up either...)

Nice! I thought that would be a tricky one. I could've also said "best remembered for being robbed in a Game 7 of the Finals," but that would've been a giveaway.

Only 2 players have ever scored 4 points in a game against Canada in best-on-best competition (nobody has scored 5). In both cases, it was 2 goals and 2 assists.

Who are the 2 players?

What unusual playoff distinction is shared by these (and only these) players?

* Rocket Richard
* Brett Hull
* Marty St. Louis
* Petr Sykora

Just a guess but triple OT winners in the Finals? But then Klima would have to be there...

Maybe triple OT on the road in the Finals?

On the right track, in terms of the OT part.

Each of these players scored playoff OT goals in three different periods of OT.

Rocket Richard scored in the 4th OT and then in the 3rd OT of consecutive games in the 1951 playoffs (against the defending Cup champs, no less), and the rest of his career playoff OT goals were in the 1st OT.

Brett Hull scored his famous (infamous?) Cup-winning goal in ‘99 in the 3rd OT; he also scored a 2nd OT goal in ‘92 against Chicago and a 1st OT goal in ‘89 against Minnesota.

Marty St. Louis scored that Game 6 goal in the ‘04 Finals to stave off elimination in the 2nd OT; earlier that playoff year, he scored a 1st OT goal to eliminate the Islanders, and in the previous year, he scored a 3rd OT goal to eliminate the Caps.

Petr Sykora scored that “called-shot” Game 5 goal in the ‘08 Finals in the 3rd OT to stave off elimination; and in that magical run by the Mighty Ducks in ‘03, he scored that 5th OT goal against Dallas and that 2nd OT goal against Minnesota.

I know that Patric Hornqvist was the final player taken in the 2005 draft because I recall it being mentioned in a Penguins telecast that the 1st overall and last overall selection in that draft were both on Pittsburgh's roster.

I don't remember the year but Kim Johnsson's was also a last overall pick, and I'm gonna guess he's an even later pick than Hornqvist because he's older so I'm thinking there was more rounds then.

Great guesses, but not quite. Both Hornqvist and Johnsson were the last selections in their respective draft years. The players who are the answer to my question were drafted even lower than they were though.

I remember Jonathan Ericsson was the last player selected in one of the drafts. Pretty impressive that he’s played his entire career with Detroit (still going strong)...even scored a goal in a Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

No idea who the other player is (or even if Ericsson is correct)

Nicely done! Jonathan Ericsson is one of the correct answers. The other player is also still going strong in the NHL.

Name the eight players who played in the post-Lockout era (2005-present) and who finished their careers with four Stanley Cups to their names.

Chris Kunitz (Anaheim, 2007; Pittsburgh, 2009, 2016, 2017).

Nicklas Lidstrom (Detroit 1997, 1998, 2002, 2008).

Tomas Homlstrom (Detroit 1997, 1998, 2002, 2008).

Kris Draper (Detroit 1997, 1998, 2002, 2008).

Kirk Maltby (Detroit 1997, 1998, 2002, 2008).

Surely another Red Wing or two is on this list, but that's who I can think of without looking up names.

Edit: Looked up the other 3. Surprised at one, and embarrassed I missed one name there.

Nice job with five of the eight. Folks sometimes forget that Holmstrom was on the ‘97 team. And Kunitz is the only one of the eight to have won all four Cups post-Lockout

The other three....

Kunitz was actually the first I thought of. And Holmstrom helps himself with his number, 96, which matched his debut. It was actually Maltby and Draper I was someone unsure of for 2008.

Yep, Niedermayer’s on this list.

The others: Darren McCarty and Claude Lemieux.

Lemieux, you’ll recall, made that comeback with the Sharks in 2008-09. All four of his Cups were pre-Lockout.

Did you know that the NHL record for saves in a playoff game is held by Normie Smith of the Detroit Red Wings when making 92 stops against the Montreal Maroons in 1936?
