Lightnings 58 wins include 6 Shootout wins and 7 3vs3 OT wins. Back in 1996 those would have been tie games giving the Lightning a record of 45 wins. Not very impressive if you are comparing them to the Detroit team of 1995-1996 or the Canadians of 1975-1977.

yeah, you see tons of teams every year break the wins record, because it's so easy now

If I see a team get 58 wins in regulation time... then I'll be impressed. 45 wins in rt doesn't impress me.
What really impresses me is the Montreal Canadians going the whole season with only 8 losses. THAT was impressive.

Tampa is highly skilled, so of those 7 3 on 3 ot wins, they would have likely gotten 3, or so wins in the old way.

Sanhiem is a f***ing coward, gets hit in the shoulder but he grabs his face and acts like he is dead and the ref blows the whistle killing the hawks offensive chance

Who exactly is looking to impress you, or seeking your approval?

You obviously aren't a Bolts fan, so you won't be enjoying our season anyway.. And I'm sure that some old hag's worthless opinion about *the way things used to be in the good ol' days* is just absolutely DEVASTATING to the administration, players, and fans..

I guess we should just pack it up and go home, ice an all-AHL lineup, and look forward to next season since this one was such a failure.

Or, maybe, just maybe, we'll keep embracing the hate, and put more beatdowns on teams giving 110% for their own seasons, and breaking plenty of records while we do it.

Wrap it up folks. He's not impressed.

Half of the teams in 77 wouldn't be playoff teams to current AHL teams. It's not mentioned enough, but the 70s was a desert of talent in the NHL outside of a small handful of franchises. Most didn't know how to navigate the draft, the WHA and rapid expansion (from 6 teams to 18 teams in very short order) led to massive talent dilution, and no players from the Soviet countries and very few Euros in general meant that a lot of top talent just never came over. Add into that the Habs GM ripping off every team of first round picks for veteran players which led to them getting guys like Lafleur, it just becomes laughable.

Anyway - sorry the Lightning being historically good isn't impressive to you. We'll try to do better next season!

The Blackhawks had scored at least 2 goals for 53 consecutive games...and then they played Carter Hart.

All I did was say that those records that have wins that included OT & SO wins should have an asterisk beside them because there are team win records where teams didn't have the opportunity to convert ties into wins (IE. Montreal 1975-1977 ).
And then people started to get their panties in a knot.
