Maybe Lack is starting because there is a deal in place for Luongo and not enough time to get Ericcson in town to back Lack up.

Sens hit the sort of outdoor ice for practice to be followed by their own family skate.

Except in this instance he is.

If you start putting the feelings of one player over the betterment of an entire organization, you're in trouble. The Canucks have a razor thin margin from here on out and Luongo hasn't been able to perform anywhere close to the level that Eddie Lack has.

This is the right decision for the team. The team should always come before the individual. Period.

If the team is making decisions based on performance in recent games, then why the **** do they continue to play the Sedins and Burrows on the top PP unit? Why the **** do they play them on the first line? There are players on our 2nd and 3rd lines who have produced better than these guys for the past quarter of the season.

Sorry, I'm not buying the whole "Lack is outplaying Luongo right now so that is why he is starting" argument. To me that's crap because it's not being applied consistently throughout the minutes given out across the entire lineup.

@odognine2: Eddie Lack starting the Heritage classic. What a joke of a team.

Canucks season is over. Why not give the rookie starts? He needs experience. Luongo has a ton of experience (and is an outgoing asset).

Luongo has an out clause and obviously was pressured to wait for it. That's just business. Lack is the starter.

Wetcoaster who started the game in 1915? Do you remember?
Remember it well... heading downtown to the Denman Arena where the Millionaires took the Cup in three straight games with scores of 6-2, 8-3 and 12-3.

The immortal Hughie "Old Eagle Eyes" Lehman was in goal for Vancouver.

Although some ice hockey historians credit Jacques Plante for originating the practice, Lehman was the first goaltender to regularly pass the puck to his fellow forwards and defensemen; he even scored a goal by shooting the puck in the opponent's net while playing for the Professionals. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1958.

For the Sens it was Clint "Praying Benny" Benedict who allowed 26 goals in three games and put up a sparkling GAA of 8.6.

Despite being ventilated by Vancouver he played on four Stanley Cup-winning squads. He was the first goaltender in the National Hockey League (NHL) to wear a face mask. He led league goaltenders in shutouts seven times over his professional career. He is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.
