Looking at the remaining games for this month:

- Avs at home.
- Red Wings away.
- Sharks at home.
- NYI at home.
- Bruins at home.

I mean, everything different than at least 3-1-1 is big fail.
Interestingly, the game I feel the best about is the road game. The Red Wings are flaming garbage.

The remaining games, including the Isles, who always give us fits, are going to be a challenge.

Still, I do think it's legit to wonder how long the "outskate everyone like a pack of wild animals" thing is going to maintain its momentum in the face of really tough fundamentals like sub-.900 goaltending and league-worst PP and PK units.

It's true- but I'm sure it will do better than "just focus on posessing and cycling the puck and the Corsi will eventually win in the end"

It's hard to get upset at the last two losses- close games they could have won against better opponents.

I worry about what happens when other teams stop playing their backups all the time against us, start playing the trap against these waves of youthful exuberance and finally, just start smashing our guys around when they start losing.

I am not mad, I am just disappointed how we gave up first 3 goals. I can understand getting outplayed, but they were some brutal mistakes, especially shorty...

Other than special teams, I like how the team is playing, I just think we deserved at least 1 point from last two games.
And I will be able to watch next game live, first of the season, f*** yeahhh

I thought the PK actually looked fine last night. The goal was because DeHaan whiffed on a clearing attempt creating a chance out of nothing after about a minute of not even letting them in the zone.
Yeah that whiff was definitely a turn the tv off moment. But I agree the limited viewing of the pk looked satisfactory. The PP on the other hand...

The score of the game could've been a lot higher. Lots of unburied chances on both sides, but Tampa especially hit several posts. They were for sure the better team.

We always beat Avs in Raleigh (though we lost against them in '17). Possitive home record against Sharks, too. If we can beat once again Isles at home, we are not worthy at all.

This is my exact thought. Get six points from Colorado, Detroit, and New York, and take a loser point from SJ or Boston.

Pessimistic prediction: 1-3-1

Lose to the Avs, beat the Wings, lose to the Sharks in OT, and lose to the Islanders and Bruins.

I'd love it to be different, but they're still the Canes, despite the start to the season, so this has to be the prediction.

Avs have been good this year, but not great -- a 3-1-2 record is .500 in any other sport, and their only road win was a joke over Buffalo. Considering they're in the middle of a long road trip and have to play the (undefeated) Devils tomorrow night, and they'll be playing against us at 11am local time in Denver, and we'll either be facing an overplayed Varlamov or a struggling Grubauer, they should be about as vulnerable as they could possibly be. We shouldn't lose to them outright, any more than we should lose in Detroit.

I'm hoping to see a 2-0 start to this set of games and then we take our chances at picking up another win in the back three.

"This team sucks" Rod said, "I'm not sure what Dundon and Waddell expect out of this collection of clowns on ice, but I feel like a circus director at this point" ... He went on to say "In my day you worked through the pain, and fatigue, you did what you had to do to win, but what can you expect from a bunch of millennials, Steve ?!? Nothing, thats what! They need to figure out their laziness, and work ethic problems, or I'm quitting and moving on with my plan to start a franchise of Gyms across the southeast."

Some of this may not be accurate, but it's pretty close.

On a positive note, Faulk has looked better each game and Slavin is so ****ing good.
Yeah but Hamilton should step up. Teravainen doesn't look that good so far. McGinn is terrible now. Necas was very good against Tampa. I'm not fan of Rask but i think that we miss him, especially if he's better than last season.

STRUGGLING BACKUP VS CANES.

And you say that like it's a good thing.

Grubauer shutout, 59 saves. GG.
