AC just showed the following list of Habs prospects:

O3egdh7.jpg

And did a roundtable asking who should be made available in a trade?

Unanimous answer: all of them.

Brunet: he's intrigued by Suzuki, thinks he's making strides but is not willing to not make him available.

Gaston: if Jersey selects just one from the list, you make the deal for Hall.
For me Romanov should be untouchable. After that, anyone can be traded
Sorry. Caufield should be untouchable As well

Jersey will ask for Caulfield to reunite him with Jack Hughes and our fearless leader will pull the trigger, I cringe because it's probably real.

No chance at all. Romanov and Caufield are going nowhere

Probably best to wait until Romanov is under contract with the Habs before putting him in the untouchable category.

He's a dead asset if he re-sign in the KHL.

Heard on the radio Leskinen made a big mistake that lead to the goal, has he been okay other than that or was it a difficult game ?

It was a bouncing puck, he was the last man back and Brendan Smith pounced and had too much momentum so he was able to skate past Leskinen for a breakaway goal:

What I didn't get is why was Leskinen being used on the right when he's lefthanded?

After that, couldn't resist a little spoof ...

Jersey nameplate being restitched in the Habs dressing room a few minutes ago after that Leskinen botched play ...

It need to be adjusted for inflation.

It's in a league with two 50+ pts players and ~seven 40+ points players in the first week of December.

35 players are above 0.90 PPG.

62 points isn't what it used to be.

Danault is tied for 40th in points. He's a durable player who's played every game. But let's look at his points per game. He's tied for 69th overall among forwards (72nd minus 3 because 3 guys ahead of him are nobody's that only played 1 game). Keep in mind there should be about 93 1st liners and 186 top 3 forwards in a 31 team league. He ranks 69th. And that's not including the point he got tonight.

Here's the company he keeps. Danault is bolded. Does that look like a list of 3rd liners?

Word is he won’t .....between that and he being in Montreal over the summer.....bodes well for us but of course, I need to see pen to paper before counting my chickens.

2nd in the division

We are lucky Toronto and Buffalo have also taken nose dives.

But Florida and Tampa have many games in hand. So we're behind them in terms of points earned per game. We'll need to weather this storm better while Drouin and Byron are out to beat them out for a playoff spot.

Peca and Primeau should help.

For those who missed the game on RDS, the GDT or both, there was yet another Paul Houde signature line worth reprising.

Pierre Houde: Lemieux, s'il a du père dans l'nez, ne doit pas être trop mauvais non plus avec le mâche-patates, comme on dit Marc.:laugh::laugh:

Context:

A chippy faceoff between Brendan Lemieux and Max Domi at 1:36 of the first period.

After trading stick jabs with each other, play was whistled down and Houde took the occasion to comment how each of them was reacting like their respective father would have, saying how the fathers left a mark in the NHL in their own way.

Marc Denis mentions how he played with one of the fathers and how intense it was.

Ref trying to resume the faceoff at 1:37, chases Domi away from the faceoff dot, as he's becoming aggressive and has him replaced. Meantime, Lemieux is continuing to trash-talk Domi.

Houde says "It's best that Domi doesn't bite (at Lemieux's antics) if the Habs want to protect their lead."

And then the one-liner about if Lemieux is anything like his dad, he can't be all that bad in the yapping department.

The expression however, is a lot funnier in French. It has a pure Québécois origin and flavor:

S'ouvrir le mâche-patates = parler, parler sans arrêt.
Literally translates as "to open your potato-masher" which means to talk and talk non-stop.

The subtleties that come from Pierre Houde's rich vocabulary are one thing that never ceases to amaze me.

The above was truly a beaut.

After the back to back this Tuesday and Wednesday, Habs have 5 games remaining before the christmas break. All are non-back-to-back.

How many does Primeau get?
He’ll get Detroit on Wednesday and that’s probably it

Well exactly, until there is a legal binding between both side, I wouldn't consider him untouchable. Altho, it doesn't mean he should be traded either.

That's a huge effort, but I never inferred that Danault was a "X" liners. My original post wasn't even about Danault specifically, I merely stated that ~62 points wasn't what it used to be.

If we want to make it about Danault then I'm going to say that if the Habs plan is to use Danault the way they use him now for years to come, then the team missed the boat (as far as where the league is going) once again.
