Yeah sometimes it sucks but in his case I don't see it as a problem. With all the centers that were drafted this past draft we can afford to place 1 or 2 on the wing. I'm thinking Hillis, Mcshane or Fonstad probably. And I'd say that Hillis' game will developp best as a winger, just like Gally's did.

I wouldn't rush into that. Statistically 3rd and 4th round centres have a slightly above 2% chance to be a top 6C in the NHL ( based on Drafts 2003 through 2008 ). A 2nd rounder just over 20%.

Obviously. I mean that if eventually we get 3 bottom-6 centers from this draft, then at least one of them will be moved to the wing. If none of them pans out, then there won't be a problem.

Recently the drafts in the NBA, NFL and NHL have been ridiculously stacked. There's so much depth at every position, so I believe that we can throw these numbers out of the window.

I missed the end. Did Kotkaniemi still play centre when Hillis was put on his line?

I was at the camp today. Ylonen is so skilled. His ability to roof from any angle is crazy.

Kotkaniemi is always ahead of the play offensively but slightly behind defensively. Left me wanting more and I also saw he was the most skilled on the ice. Every time he had the puck he made a move.

Fleury is a man amongst children. Hes the most NHL ready player I d say, he needs to get reps in the AHL and a lot of them. He has a really active stick and super nifty vision. Love him even more.

Fonstad is quick and elusive but he needs to learn to manage his space better and his shot is not gonna be a real threat from outside.

Tsyzka would be Canadad number 1 D if he wanted it. Kid is so damn toolsy, he has it all. Skating, shot, hands, vision, size, strength... but he seems to be at 75% most of the time and hes playing too tame.

Gorniak is good. Loved him. Fastx elusive, quick hands, heads up player.

Hillis and McShane didnt show much.

Oloffson is yuuuuuge. Good wheels, lateral agility is great. Didnt show much else.

Primeau is head and shoulders the best player there though. Good lord hes good.

Bitten is a speed demon and a future grinder. He reminds me of Mitchell a lot.

Houde didnt do much.

Poehling didnt do much but win board battles and faceoffs.

JK and RP are basically big guys that do the right thing over and over. I can appreciate that.

First time seeing both live, they both looked pretty thin compared to Fleury who looks thick AF.

Good report thanks.

And thanks for being non biased on JK, instead of punching up his showing for HF. Lots of people here would have said 'Oh and JK is a god among men, McDavid level already'.

What’s great about the internet you can go fact check that. Barkov was 4 on almost every single list
Your right Barkov did end up dropping to 4th in most list I guess memory did play trick on me but my point was that it was not a off the board pick the guy was seen as a top pick since he was 15 yo and the 3player s were pretty closely group.

I had Ylonen first round. He remind me of CLaude Giroux and Ehlers. It's very special the mix of speed and explosion with is stick handling. To me only Zadina, Bokk, Kupari have better hands and speed in the last draft. He doesnt seems to be getting that many assists but from all the time I have saw him play I really like is vision and playmaking ability.

Fleury look very good I think he's a look to be an NHLer good 2 way an physical top 4.

Harris like is skating so fluid, stride look effortless. Playing with poise too. Could be a steal.

Cam Lee; not many are talking about him but he's pretty good.

Fonstad, McShane both are skills and decent gamble where we got them. But to me they don't have the nhl speed.

Kotkeniemi and Poehling love them :) For Jesperi It's pretty rare to have that level off stick handling for a 6foot2 center. He is also playing with a very long stick and is very good at breaking play. I see quit a bit of upside for him defensively.

Ive seen a kid with potential in boatloads. At 17, hes the smartest kid on the ice and he probably has the best hands in tight. Hes also super mobile 360 with the puck.

His board play is also something to consider. Hes probably 3rd to Poehling and Fleury.

yeah just imagine Kotka's board play when he fills out. Kid has a massive frame and when he grows into it you can potentially see a nightmare to play against. It will really flesh out the rest of his game.

Thanks for the report, Mrb1p.

Harris is a slick skater for sure and I like his hands but I dont see much else...

I see a 17 years old just out of high school who was on the ice with better players than he'd faced in his life so far.
Considering I'd say he did well just to hold his own.
Let's be a little patient.

.
This kid could easily top our prospects pool, he has everything to become a great starter in the NHL, I guess Habs brass like him alot too since they traded away a very good goaltending prospect in Hawkey not too long ago...

Ylonen looked every bit a first rounder as ive seen over the years

It seems so silly, but I do think we were lucky that he played in Mestis this year: I'm sure another good player would have been available (Olofsson, for example) had he been taken earlier, but he has a lot of potential. I don't think he can be the one to lead an offense, but he can keep up with anyone.
