Oftentimes you are most prone to injuries when the stakes are highest, that's life. Hockey players struggle with psychological impairment as well, this season we had Drouin leave a team that made the finals. A few years back we had Lehner retire from the season after suffering a mid-game panic attack. But he recovered from his injury and came back as a Vezina finalist next year. That's not quitting, on the contrary it's perseverance.
Yeah but she quit in game 7 of the SCF. Imagine if General Patton quit in the middle of D-Day or if Tom Brady quit in the middle of his first super bowl. Biles is a loser. She should lose all of her endorsements. What a disgrace. But i will give her one thing: she reflects the USA in 2021. A nation of cowards and quitters and entitled losers.

General Patton did not participate in D-Day as he had been transferred to command a paper army group in England after twice mistreating hospitalized soldiers that displayed PTSD symptoms. The victim of the second and more severe incident went on to serve in the Korean War and was honorably discharged as Sergeant First Class. I'm sure he was not a quitter either.

I stand corrected. Guess its okay that simone quit on her team. I hope this becomes a trend in athletics from here on out. Id love to see brady and mahomes and crosby and whoever else do it to bring awareness to being sad.

If she suffers from depression, that's a lot more than being sad.

Hmmmm its like simone biles is the first person in history to face psychological demons. Nope. Shes a quitter. The great ones go out and perform even when they feel a little sad. I feel depressed sometimes but i wouldnt be applauded if i just didnt do my job because im sad. No id be fired. Simone is a coward and unworthy of being called a competitor, let alone "GOAT". Shes a shameful quitting loser. They should strip her of all of her medals for this disgusting act. Imagine if Crosby pulled this shit in game 7 of the Stanley cup finals going into the 3rd period with the game tied 2-2 after he had 2 bad turnovers that led to the 2 goals. Or if Lebron did it.

She didn't pull herself because she felt "sad". She pulled herself because she has zero sense of air awareness.. She literally couldn't go out and do her job, because going out and doing her job could have caused her to not know where her body was in the air and could seriously have inured her.

So the proper example is "would Crosby pull himself off the ice if they had a concussion." probably not because most hockey players don't do smart things when they are injured, but the team doctors, concussion spotters or something 100 percent would have.

I remembered watching her floor routine in the prelims.

She didn't just go out of bounds on the mat (as would be common in compeition) but off the mat completely.

Yeah. things like that. I mean we can argue all day long if they should have let her go to the Olympics (she was having mistakes all year long), - and there is footage of her at the Trials saying that she doesn't feel really well, and she pushed through it anyway. but lets be real. If she were like not Simone Biles, all those mistakes would have pegged her a risk and she wouldn't have made the Olympic Team - but since she's Biles, people (probably including her), thought she would have shaken it off. She didn't, and her body finally said - yeah. enough, listen to me.

I said else where, part of the problem is probably because Simone herself flat out said she was prepared to retire last year and then didn't because she felt that she would come back and be the face of change for USA Gymnastics in regards to what happened to the hundreds of girls who were sexually abused because of Nassar and if they had an active person from that time they couldn't sweep it under the rug - which admirable, but if you came back because of being an advocate - not for the love of sport and all that jazz is her mind really in it? I don't know. Simone also admitted that this was the first time ever she competed without her parents being around. she's completely isolated (and she's extremely extroverted) so there is a lot of things that could compound panic attacks that she couldn't just push it away.

I said yesterday (because some of the quotes made it sound like it was more of a "ehh, don't feel like it or something") that Khorkina or other old school gymnasts would walk on broken glass if they simply felt "yucky." vs just walk off the floor. But that is completely different from having what is known as the "twisties" where your body just adds twists (or untwists) when it's not supposed to. It's extremely dangerous, it takes a lot to re-train the body and doing it in the middle of an Olympic competition is pretty much not advisable.

You can argue her being all stressed about being the face of the Olympics, and all the expectations (so then you know don't stitch GOATS on your Leos for one). and hindsight you could argue that they (or her team, or her) should have been smarter, seen the signs and pull her off the team, but you wouldn't do that if McDavid or Crosby was having a horrendous season - you'd still put them on Team Canada, and expect them to shake out of the yuckies,. But if Hockey had a version of the twisties where their actual life could be in dangerous. damn straight i'd expect Team Canada to pull them out of competition.

really hope at the AA tomorrow they make brief mention of her and then let the gymnasts who are still fighting and ready to compete on the biggest stage shine for once.
despite what NBC has been doing for the last several years by trying to force her as something she proved shes not, Simone Biles is not the entire sport of gymnastics. It existed before her, and it is exists after her.

it's time for new stars to be made instead of giving attention to a quitter.
it is their time now.

let the world wide olympic audience get to know Suni Lee's story. She has faced real deal adversity and never gave up. She has iron will and can be the positive feel good story this sport hasn't had since Nassar/Marta put this giant black cloud over it.

this AA should really be something to watch. It's going to be a free for all. Probably the most wide open AA since 1996.

That's likely saying you can't criticize NHL players because you didn't play in the NHL. Or you can't criticize a coach because you've never coached an NHL team to a victory. It's a stupid argument.

Wow you’re sad

Are you comparing the danger of making a mistake in gymnastics with you making a mistake at your job? With Lebron or Crosby? That’s ridiculous, they’re not facing serious injury if they make a split second mistake. She can land on her head or worse.

I just can’t understand this thought process…how sad is your life that you post something like this about her

My life is great.
My thought process is simple. Biles' name suits her. She's acidic, toxic, and corrosive.
In a non-clown world, her sponsors would pull a simone and quit sponsoring her citing their financial health and well-being.
If you don't like what I have to say, then oh well. Go cry about it.
I will actually go out of my way to not buy products that sponsor her now.

half way thru, and it's down to 4 who are serious contenders for gold..
Andrade, Suni, Melnikova and Urazova

Andrade and Suni are absolutely killing it what a story it would be if either of them could win; Andrade coming out of nowhere this Olympics and Suni for the personal adversity she has been fighting over the last 2 years.
It is likely one of theirs to lose. Next is beam. Melnikova is hanging tough, but beam is her worst event and she is a coin flip on it. If she doesn't fall off, she's getting a medal for sure.

Suni leading heading into the last rotation, so close between her, Andrade, and Melnikova.
Suni is gonna have to really be better than her best here because floor is her weakest due to her spaghetti ankles. Urizova also not the strongest on floor

Melnikova & Andrade are super strong on floor. Love how close this is going into the last rotation.

SUNIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!

She did it!
She promised her paralyzed dad she would win him an Olympic Gold medal.... and she did it!!
In spite of her having bad ankles, she filled in for her teammate that quit on her and she put her own health at risk cause her team needed her

Good things happen to good people
Suni Lee is the strong fighter and role model we all should strive to be

so proud for her. dreams come true

Andrade with the two exits on the FX left the gold but I'm so f***ing happy for Suni Lee, she deserves it so much!!!! Melnikova completes the podium, all in all a nice AA, definitely not a level which will be remembered, but cool stuff anyway.

there is not a lot of gymnastics media, so what makes it double sweet is that the loudmouth slob who hosts the most prominent gym podcast has been saying since May:

"Suni should not be on the team"
"Suni should go as a bar/beam specialist"
"Suni is not an all around gymnast"

Suni beat Biles on day 2 of Trials, is the one who had to step up and and do what Biles was afraid to do at the team final, and she is now the Olympic All Around Champion.

Suni is so strong. Embodiment of iron will and never give up
