He’s got the tools to be an effective PP guy but what I’d give for him to show some playmaking abilities, any at all. Oh well. Nice to see him back.

I think our team (or at least his future line) could be structured in a way where Rasmussen's role is not to playmake like traditional centers. We have like 12 playmaking wingers on the system to do that duty on his lines ( in the future). Just do that smart Bertuzzi-short-passing. Go net-front, others will create, he is the net-front nightmare.

thing is hes so huge it could take him a while to fully develop his coordination . and he was rushed right up from juniors which prevented him from getting the usual time to refine his game .

- enjoy ahl games much more than nhl and im thinking its because the refs dont make so many ridiculous calls
- besides hickets that does great unstatable stuff every game another guy is elson , always hustling and making important plays that detract from opponant possesion / enhance griff possesion

Ras will be a fine player but I wanted Necas at the time and still do now. Was the obvious pick imo. RH shot, the Zadina-Necas connection would have been great.

Since he's so young and determined to improve his game, it could be a case of coaches telling him what his biggest strengths are and him doubling down to show them he could do even better in those areas. That's why you constantly see him b-lining to the front of the net. I have seen video of him making nice passing plays and shooting from the slot, so that's definitely there, but we'll have to wait and see whether he chooses to work on those skills as he grows into his body and his personality.

if you watch ras youll notice the guy is a huge rugged creature . hes extremely intense ands a heads up player . and absolute monster around the net . meanwhile hes a still physically maturing big bodied player that shall no doubt become more coordinated . and when he does could become an absolute wrecking ball in the o zone . hes not done developing and kenny bringing him up to the bigs as a kid was jackassinine and made him look bad . but i see a monster in this guy and another intense all heart leader that teammates look up to developing and am totally on board with this pick . and maybe ras isnt an excellent puck carrier and play majker , he can still play center if you put talented wingers like zadina that can carry the puck on his line : LAFRANIERE-RAS'MOUNTAIN-ZADINA

I think having him in the nhl last year was the lesser of two terrible choices. I wouldn’t blame Kenny. Ras would have been mowing over the chl like midgets hockey. It would have been a joke. Especially for his skill set.

he had already started to in the playoffs. Imagine him another year older. It would have been gross.

Does missing on Necas hurt? Of course, but at this point I don't see what players who were drafted even before him like Glass, Andersson, and Middlestat have done to outperform him. He wasn't the ideal pick, but relative to the draft, he's been fine. Probably a bit above average.

Based on what we saw last year, I think it's a safe bet Ras becomes at least a 20 goal guy as a PP specialist. I doubt Andersson will have 20 goals in his career at this point.

Don't make him a center.
Keep him on wing.

The plan for him is at center and why would you stick him on wing without seeing if he can handle center first? Worst case hes moved to wing later if the wings are deep at center

I'm sure the Wings plan to try him.
I just don't see it. Dude couldn't skate with the puck. Not good NHL quality.
He's a netfront guy. He's huge. He should get stronger and own board play.
Screams winger to me.

Really?
That's a stretch.
First it was Vilardi we should have taken, then Necas, eventually maybe Thomas.
It’s glaringly obvious that no matter what, the goalposts will keep shifting because people simply don’t like the style of player we took. A small, shifty guy with the same production would likely be seen in a much more favorable light around here.
