I hope so. But this is what this form is all about. I read your post you wanted guys like AA just like I did. I like Sweeney but he is afraid to trade his prospects The time was this year to make the all in deals and he didn’t . Look at Yzerman last year jt Miller and Ryan McDonagh. Filled his need and traded the rite prospects and the team is better today.

I admit I didnt target coyle or Johansson in my own wish list. I didnt suggest dealing donato. I was hoping for Duchene most the time but I had my eye on a few big names

that said... how can I be so egomaniac to think my trades were ever even available to us? I wasnt in talks with any rival gms. trades are complicated. I get to participate in a sim league this year with some very serious people. they take their teams to heart. when I attempt trades with these people I have been educated they value players much different then I.

when one of us fans say that a gm should have got this guy or that guy... we dont know what all is going on behind the scenes. some gms are buddies with others and more inclined to trade. favors get banked and repaid. sometimes players leak it through agents... dont trade for me, because I wont be happy.

I wish I had power to make trades for the bruins but most posters here scream at the thought and hope I never get the power to wipe my nose with bruins official tissue paper. they want me no where near the team. and to be certain... they got nothing to worry about. I will never be near the decesion making

so... I get left having to trust Sweeney. I trusted Chiarelli. I didnt trust occonnell. I trusted sinden. all in all, im pretty happy with the results of the guys I trusted. its really not that bad being a bruin fan the last 45 years

sure, I wish we had more cups... I am pretty happy with trips to the cup finals we had. ive shown the measurements many times... other than cup wins our franchise is as successful/more successful than any other in the past 45 years

and really do the oiler and islander cup wins still warm the hearts of their fans today? there is a statue of limitations how long a cup win will keep fans happy. are Anaheim fans still happy about their cup... or Carolina fans about their win? are bruin fans still happy we won in 2011 or did we want to fire everyone involved with that team and vilify them on their way out?

fans are pretty hard to keep happy I guess... I am glad I find ways to be happy instead of looking for one more way to be miserable

Coyle has 3 goals and two assists in 18 games. He's also -2

Johansson has no goals and 1 assist in 7 games. He is also -2

I hate to say it, but it looks like the deadline moves haven't panned out too well.
With all due respect....... I think you love to say it.

Points shortly after the trade deadline mean very little. Deals at TDL are about two things generally: is a team better in the long run and/or does a move improve the team as a whole as measured in the playoffs or immediately get a cusp team over hump and in to playoffs.

Since neither has happened yet, a running tally of RS points since TDL is next to useless.

Despite Donato's strong points play, Minny has failed to get into playoffs. Leaves longrun which we will see.

We'll see with Boston come playoffs. Eye test tells me that Coyle is a size possession guy who has clearly solidified our 3rd line. Mojo in brief shows promise, but nasty injury has robbed us of chance to see more. Timing of him coming back is perfect for playoffs and some practice time with new team.

Anyone who doubts any of this should have learned a lesson when Hart Trophy shoo-in R Spooner went to Rangers. Trade steal of the century...... until it wasn't, that is.

After going the first 7 games without a point, Coyle now has 6 pts in the last 12 games. That's pretty much his normal pace for his career.

He's doing exactly what he was brought in to do - eating minutes, controlling possession and chipping in here and there. I don't know what folks are expecting to get out the 3C but I don't think you can ask for much more. Yes, the stats look bad because of those first 7 games but that's pretty normal for a new guy, especially in the Bruins system.

His line with Johansson and Wagner looked pretty good last night. If that's what they go with to start the playoffs I wouldn't complain.

Coyle is looking more comfortable with each passing game, Mojo tough to yet assess with his limited games but I like what I have seen thus far

Thought it might be a good time to revisit this one, maybe eat some crow, maybe pat yourself on the back . . .

I went with a B- . . . needless to say, I'm glad Sweeney's the GM and not me.

I graded a B. Wish I'd gone higher, but I can live with it.

Of course that might all go to rat s**t anyway. I heard that Ryan Donato deked the ever loving s**t out of some high school kid in a local offseason Minnesota pickup game last night. If video is anywhere near as good as it sounds I might have to downgrade.

Stanley Cup Finals are nice and all, but show me a good no contact pickup game and I'm hooked. Heard Spoons was going to play in same game but they wouldn't let him play center so he walked.

I went with C+. I was clearly wrong. I remember many posters saying that Coyle is, essentially, more sizzle than steak. That he would always leave you wanting more. That he has size but does not use it. I took that to heart and was disappointed. I also didn't think Johansson would be as good as he has been.

One more ****ing win!

I went with B. Loved getting Coyle (SSK forever) and MoJo, hated losing Donato (SSK forever). Still don’t get the need some folks feel to pile on Donato, local kid, good kid. Hope he scores 25 next year. Grade obviously should have been an A.

6$ and a bag of Doritos that had the B`s kept Donato, he`d be a healthy scratch in the playoffs more than he played

Love the kids offensive game but he wouldn`t have been ready for the heat of playoff action

It was an obvious A at the time because everyone knew coyle was being boned with bad line mates and jojo looked amazing til he got injured. Apparently getting injured is your fault.

I just thought Coyle alone was such a step up from what they had in JFK/Frederic that he would make a huge difference. Johansson is a fast, talented wing capable of putting up 55-60 points. They checked the boxes for me... Strong 3rd line center and talented winger.

I gave it a C.

Thought then (and always think) that there is almost always a better deal to be made. Without re-reading every comment I've made, I think that my biggest problem was around Sweeney being too unwilling to give up young players, (of course those young players that I'm not a big fan of) in order to get a bigger fish.

Looks like in this case, 2 good players trumped getting one great one.

Sweeney built an excellent 3rd line for a 2nd, 4th, 5th and Donato. And Coyle is back next year at a cheap cap hit. Thats an A+ regardless of whether they win Wednesday.

I agree, isn’t ready yet. Trade obviously put Bs in better position to win Cup, which is exactly what I told my pissed off brother. Still rooting for Donato though.

me too, think Ryan is going to wind up like a Phil Kessel kind of player, a guy who will fill the net but won`t be the guy you tap on the shoulder to preserve a lead
