The other BIG issue for Gaudreau is Calgary would likely want Sanheim or Myers...in addition to Konecny or Farabee. So, ummm, tough trade.

I'd gladly upgrade Konecny or Farabee for Gaudreau but dont think I'm moving of Myers, Sanheim, Ivan. Perhaps Cam + Konency??? Value okay ?? Maybe a 2nd thrown in?
You do not trade 5 years of TK at 5.75m for 2 years of Johnny at 6.75 straight up. You have a steal contract and you hold on to it for dear life.

Would Philly do Edmundson + 2nd + B prospect? Edmundson would be an upgrade in your bottom pair.

I've been pimping the idea of him to Ottawa for a couple weeks now. It is a good fit.

Lots of games played, but not too old. Shouldn't cost much in assets because of his cap hit. Doesnt make too much in real dollars. Plays right side even though hes a lefty. Doesnt have an NMC that prevents a trade to ottawa. Not intradivisonal. Signed for long enough to be worth giving up a pick, but not so long that it would be an albatross.

As long as Philly can take back a depth guy like Zub or Reilly back it would only add a few million to Ottawas roster which makes it within the realm of possibility.

Not a huge amount of upside, but not a huge amount of downside.

As long as Philly keeps is reasonable with the ask, and Ottawa scouts don't see anything too scary in the tape, I see no reason a deal can't be done.

He had an injury that he came back too quick from to they sat him again for it and then had surgery during the pause. Not as many as people think.

You won't fool anybody. He was a healthy scratch a lot and when in the line-up, he played bottom pairing D a lot. Great with the puck and horrible without the puck. It's not some secrete you can hide under the rug. He's a liability in his own end in terms of clearing the front of the net, playing physical, and neutralization along the boards.

See, I provided both pros and cons. Most who know value understand he is a decent offensive piece but not good at playing actual defense which is his primary job! I tried to tell this to Leaf fans when they thought trading Kadri for Barrie and Kerfoot was a good move.

Look at where Barrie ranked in +/- on the Avs with all their D and then go look at Ghost with the Flyers. You wee notice something. And if you say +/- don't mean anything... You don't understand or know how to use it properly

One dimensional type. He needs to be paired up with a stud at RD in order to get the best results

Probably worth it for a team with lots of cap space willing to take a risk on him bouncing back

If you’re going to +/- in 2020 you’re already out the game

I'd love to find a way to get Ghost in Minnesota. Of course, Dumba would have to be traded first. Does Philly want Dumba for Ghost+? Or do the Flyers want forwards coming back?

Yikes. Keep Dumba...

Nope. When you are typically near the bottom of your team in +/- over several years, it's not to be ignored and it's the exact reason why the Flyers would move Ghost over others. I used that same approach with Barrie before he played one game with the Leafs and I was right

Your probably a young fan and think the game is about offense only where defense and size don't matter any more eh. Keep moving with the herd of sheep if it makes you feel good

I'm 36 years old and a 14-year season ticket holder. Your approach is not what makes you right, at 5v5 Barrie was perfectly fine this year, he tanked on the power play which has even less to do with +/-.

Prolly just a draft pick. Flyers need cap space and, more importantly, need to avoid Seattle draft eligibility

A top 10 protected 1st in 2021 would be good so Flys can trade it to Seattle to choose which player to select
If the Flyers were being offered that, it would already be done

Glad to know no one has watched Ghost or followed him for last 2 seasons.

He's battled multiple knee issues and played with subpar talent on 3rd line that he couldn't click with because he can't play with a no IQ plug. Our first line was Provy and ole Reliable Niskanen and 2nd pair is Sanheim and Myers (two bigtime prospect that have been paired since AHL days and have chemistry).

There's just no spot for him on Flyers which is why he was healthy scratched even though he's 100% now. He can easily he a 2nd line, PP specialist on another team and that has real value. Get your shit value takes out of here.

Just because he is average height and an offensive finesse guy doesn't mean he can't play defense - check out the metrics (not your misconceptions about smaller/high-skill D-men)

Several posters on the Flyers board say he is a top pair dman. So that should be his value..
Anyone saying Gostisbehere is a top pairing defenseman is insane. That said, he is a decent top-4 defenseman that has the potential to regain his borderline-elite offensive production if traded to the right team. Ghost is not great defensively, but he has the chops to be world-class offensively--he's just overstayed his welcome in Philly. He also has a good contract with term. I will say this: any team who acquires Ghost will likely be getting a steal--robbing him from the Flyers for pennies on the dollar. In Montreal or Florida--for example--I'm fully convinced that Gostisbehere would score close to 60 points next season and be a fan-favorite.

Ghost getting 60 (65) points was a fluke, as every top-level player on the team had career years and a great power play, which was also still a credit to him. But 60-point defensemen are guys who play closer to 25 minutes a night and he isn't that guy.

I think offers will vary wildly. Some might be more willing to take a chance on him that others. The enormous drop in his numbers are in part due to being dropped down the lineup and less pp time, but he's a huge liability defensively. If you're not going to give him the PP time to make up for it, I don't much see the point. If you're a team that doesn't draw that many penalties, he plays even less. You'd have to pair him with an absolute rock defensively to even have a sliver of hope in covering for him.
