Demko Petey not showing up is really hard to get used to.
Somethings wrong with them

Give Demko a break and use DeSmith for a bit. He's been reliable as a backup.

Don't know what's going on with Petey. Does this help the Canucks re-sign him for a lower price? He's starting to show signs of that 20-30 game stretched a couple seasons back where he simply wasn't very effective. I can only hope he's battling through some injury.

Myers is atrocious but it's not just him.

Half our forward group are MIA. Mik, Kuz, Petey, Garland all need to be much better. Hronek with horrible coverage all night.

Demko has been very average the last few weeks. Not a good night for him. The juicy rebound in the dying seconds was a complete back breaker.

Also a Terrible effort the first two periods. A ten minute stretch of actual compete is not going to win you many games.
Yes they were a disjointed group and missing coverages all over the ice as well as some efforts by the players you outlined that are just not good enough.

The entire defense was off tonight and we never seemed to be able to get away from too much gambling up ice pressure that led to scoring chances and chasing. Ill add Blueger to the list of guys playing with a piano attached to his butt. Aside from a nice patient pass to help set up the Joshua goal he looked overmatched (even if im not expecting that much he's still getting 3C usage) Losing Hughes off the faceoff for the 3rd goal after a questionable icing call was brutal. Adds so little offensive push

Joshua Miller Hoglander Lafferty carried the luggage tonight. Boeser and Miller offensively have been good but Brock had a couple poor defensive reads early that helped contribute to the opening goal and a breakaway. At least he answered unlike Kuzmenko who is a mess. Glad they got him off the line it only works in one zone. Doubt the team is going to Bali next off season

Reality is Demko had a tough night which didnt help. Some fortunate bounces but rebound control was not good. Struggled to track some pucks quick enough that got stuffed. Should be able especially on home ice to upstage Vanecek who was poor but didn't

I didnt mind Zadorov that much sure he had a couple turnovers but NJ is a quick team with a lot of active skilled sticks and the gaps were not great tonight which made for tougher up ice passes this team is not built that way like NJ and them falling into that type of game made for lots of high risk reward play. Disagree with Hughes getting a call there but the hit behind NJs net was surprisingly not a penalty. He's certainly a player on the edge.

Myers on the other hand was simply unable to read anything quick enough to make good decisions and then his body followed flailing around chopping away and making life difficult for everyone on ice with him. Just awful stuff from top4 usage. He literally gave J.Hughes a perfect pass to set up the 2nd goal from Haula and at least 5 other scoring chances by my count. Pretty hard to win in this league with those kinds of constant breakdowns to say nothing of how bad that end of the period pass vs shot decision was and 2 other offensive opportunities that he botched. Full on train wreck mode

Hronek is getting over tasked. that first goal wasnt really his fault as Boeser didnt read the pinch. For the most part he supported possession. Juulsen is pretty much unplayable as he doesn't have the IQ to make up for his lack of foot speed. Still need help back there at RD. People are upset about usage but who do you play... Cole has slowed down and you cant keep trotting out the top pair as Hughes even looked off tonight despite the points and late surge.

Man the duo of Kuzmenko and Mikhayev have run cold and EP40 is not much better. Kuz is just awful through the neutral zone and in coverage and his unwillingness to shoot is incredibly frustrating. Cant have those wings of the umbrella just playing catch and slowing the play down. They managed to make it work for the most part but mostly thanks to Miller Hughes and Boeser not because of 40 and 96

Need rest and practise time to get re set on systems play. Team looked too much like last year under Boudreau for my liking but there is still positives

Not calling timeout and kept Demko in.
Not playing Hogs more.
Killed Kuz’s confidence.
Gave Myers way too much time and too many chances.

And he’s mad.
Totally pissed off at this coaching staff right now,,adjustments could have been made sooner in the game..when is Soucy back,,and Suter...

6. Brisebois
7. Friedman
8. Hirose
9. Irwin
10. Mckward

WTF is up with Tocchets obsession of playing Myers in crucial minutes??
Myers cost us so many points its ridiculous.

Hogs deserves better and Myers should be in the ahl
I wonder if Management has been talking up re-signing Myers and Rick is trying to show them how error prone he is. Although, what to do when you've got Hronek and Cole losing their minds somewhat regularly now as well.

The team is no longer playing like a playoff team. There's so much regular evidence that they're losing their structure to frequently and it's leading to a lot of goals against. It's like Myer's Mojo has infected the team lol

Team Chaos!

Like the Hog in this game. He's really earning a place further up the lineup and Miller has been about the best part of the club.

Pettersson has to figure his stuff out as he's certainly not looking consistent enough to be expecting one of the higher contracts in the league.

Anyway, team has warts and it sucks to see them losing so often now, but really it's what we expected. The strong start is over and this is a team that struggles to hit 500. There's not much excuse for playing so poorly of late.

If this team wants to make some real noise two things need to happen

Petey needs to get his Mojo back and Tyler Myers needs to get shot out of a cannon

Demko needs to tighten up too. Since the Toronto game he’s been pretty average with some good and bad games mixed in. When he’s closing the door it makes up for a lot of the defensive miscues the team still makes

I want to see the offensive zone time stats from tonight because I could not believe how much we were winning battles on the forecheck. Felt like we were playing a man's game vs a bunch of boys.

Defensive side was another story. We handed them absolute f***ing pizzas all night. The game felt like this: have control, have control, incredible defensive gaffe, get scored on. It's frustrating that we had to work so hard to get our goals, and they didn't have to work at all. Really just tired of Myers and Juulsen throwing these games away for us

Anyone who watched the Tocchet interview:

Did any media member ask a question about Myers' usage? Did Tocchet mention Myers even once?

The focus on Myers here is a bit crazy? Awful play by Hronek on the 6-5 goal. Zadorov with an awful giveaway earlier and then should give gotten a penalty on the Hughes breakaway.

yeah hronek was way worse than myers tonite. zadorov too imo

well at least we came back.

jersey just cut our defence to pieces though whenever they turned it on though. yikes.

the way some teams expose the canucks, they obviously are not as good their record right now. not terrible or even bad, but they have a ways to go to gain the experience to play different style teams and hold their own. a learning.

i am starting to think moving myers is now at the point addition by subtraction. he's not playing that badly, but it feels like game in game out he is always in the middle of everything going wrong on this team even when it's not his fault.

solid post if we are discussing one game, but over time for me it's not even rational anymore. myers is always in the mix at key bad points in our games. it often is not his fault, but he's right there. i feel like at a deeper level the team is just out of synch with him on the ice and it shows up in unexpected ways. maybe other guys make mistakes because they are distracted by something myers did or did not do, or maybe they are just trying to hard too adapt to or allow for his style of play.
