The Anaheim Ducks are pleased to announce that they have signed Nashville Predators RW Patric Hornqvist to a 5 year, $22.5 million offer sheet. The Ducks will now wait the appropriate time for the Predators to match or allow him to leave

If Ryan Kesler is to be moved it will be today. We'd like to stay involved in FA. PM us if interested.

Chris Stewart could be packaged with another forward for an upgrade.

I got caught up in a couple things last night and didn't sign a couple clients that I said I would. That could start happening at 1 PM.

Just had a bunch of my players agree to contracts, but yeah haven't gotten many PMs today and the thread is dead. Sucks that things die down so quickly in FA.

Contender? Phaneuf and Regehr are better than Visnovsky and Murray. You have an above average D but you have no real top pairing defensemen IMO.

Backstrom is obviously an upgrade in goals but most contenders have a better starting goalie. With that being said, Backstrom-Reimer would be solid.

Zajac is a great upgrade over Bozak and Morrow will bring leadership to the team. Well balanced lines up front but once again, nothing that can be compared to legit contenders.

With that being said, you made some key moves (especially signing Lupul after getting Jensen from Vancouver). I could definitely see this team in the playoffs.

In terms of Phaneuf, he and Regehr were never on the same team... and we factor Gardiner as a solid # 3 guy at that point. We may not have a legit #1, but we look at it that there are only maybe 10-12 true #1 guys out there at the most, so we went for balance which we think we've achieved. Teams like Pittsbrugh and Carolina won the Cup without bona fide # 1 defencemen.

We think our top lines are among the top 5 in the league - the Kessel/Lupul combo and the Grabo/Kulemin combinations have produced amazing results, and both have had better players put as the third to their tandem (Zajac > Bozak, and JVR > MacArthur). Morrow is a legit 2nd liner on most teams, and he's on our 3rd. Our fourth line is pure grit and energy, and we've got an elite faceoff specialist as our 13th forward.

As far as Backstrom, we still see him as a top 10 guy in the league... but as he is getting older, he needs more rest and Reimer will give him that by picking up 20-25 games per season.

Realistically we see ourselves as a solid #5, #6 team in the Eastern Conference.
