Does this open up additional cap space to take on a bad contract for a draft pick? Or maybe play 3rd party on a kane/Toews trade to a contender?

If he played like that needing ACL surgery… that was incredibly impressive then.

And incredibly stupid on management/doctors?

This would ahve 100% been the players decision

the player can say they want to play but it's lunacy to let a player you've invested nearly 20 million in "play through it". he should have been rehabbing or getting surgery so he could start his rehab

You cant just tell a player no you are getting surgery. That would 100% get the NHLPA involved

This is the best media availability Patrick Alvin has done so far by a mile.

He sounds promising, very concise, very interesting.

toradol lets you play through a lot. playing on a torn acl isn't going to slow you down it's just going to hurt and it's going to open you up to further injury

you can refuse to clear them medically to play. the pa can't reasonably argue that a torn acl isn't a significant injury

surgery is the worst case for mikheyev. if you have a tear you really want to let it heal naturally through rehab. his speed is probably not going to be the same coming back
