Going to need to have a huge Demko game tomorrow to have a shot at this, the Devils have been good to start the season off and are 6-2, have an absurd 69.08 xGF% and have suppressed high danger chances at the highest rate in the league.

Woah, that’s amazing. What’s crazy is he was traded once before coming to Vancouver as well and even crazier ,Vancouver got him for 31 year old Bertuzzi and a first round bust.

And people here talk about “Canuck luck” uh what?
I agree that the future player performance favoured the Canucks by a considerable margin but don't think that at the time of the trade Alex Auld, the Canucks # 1 goaltender who had just finished the season playing 67 games, would have been omitted from a summary of the trade nor that Bryan Allen was a bust.

Bryan Allen had just finished playing over 20 minutes a game for the Canucks that season as a defensive defenceman with size and grit. He never lived up to his draft position as a # 4 overall pick but was hardly a bust. He went on to average over 21 minutes a season in his first two seasons in Florida before a knee injury knocked him out for pretty much the entire 2008-2009 season and after he returned he was never quite as good as he had been before the injury.

Burroughs is a better player than Stillman, regardless of age. If the team wants to actually make up ground, they need to play the best possible line-up. Scratching one your best defencemen, which is an absolutely bizarre thing to say about Burroughs but here we are this year, is not the way to do it.

When is the last time the Canucks beat that team? Seems like they own us every season, even when they sucked.

Easy money.

I've watched several NJD games and John Marino has been a beast for NJD. Change of scenery has really rejuvenated the guy hard.
This was a huge missed boat for us to be honest.

Have a feeling we’re going to get absolutely caved in tomorrow. This team is far too fast for us, particularly on the forecheck. Can see us turn the puck over all night in our end. Would love to be wrong but see something along the lines of 5-1 Devils with us being badly outshot.

This Devils is no longer an 'easy out', particularly on the road. The went into Columbus and buried the Jackets
7-1, but also won a 1-0 game in Denver. So they can play it any way you want.

The key for the Canucks will be to jump on them early since the Devils are at the back end of a long road-trip. Have high hopes for the that line of Pettersson, between Kuzmenko and Mikheyev. There's a superb playmaker; a shooter and winger with breakaway speed. Shaping up as the Canucks top line.
Both of games you mentioned were played in Newark. Colorado had lots of injuries and are the only team that NJ didn't outshoot by 10+ shots in a game (mainly because Colorado had 6 PP to NJ's 1). They had easier schedule but you can't choose who you play against.

Hughes vs Hughes, who cares? Maybe a novelty side show diversion though.

TEAM Vancouver plays TEAM New Jersey.

I hope as fans we remember it is a team made up of many players but the name on the front is the ONLY important name.

With two wins not much has been changed, sure they aren't winless but neither are they on a streak yet.

The schedule looks like they could/should win 2 of the next 3. What if they don't the next road trip will tell the tale.

NJD are young so maybe they have been Roxie'd

NJD - 7 VC - 4

What is it about Canuck players and concussions? Poolman has spent most of his career with the Canucks on LTIR, supposedly for migraine issues. Translation, he's having headaches. Now Dermott takes a mild bump in training camp and lands on LTIR with a concussion. Of course they join Ferland who'll never play another game in the NHL.

I'm wondering if all these guys had a concussion history before the Canucks acquired them? And why the Canucks seem to keep on acquiring them without due diligence?

Everyone and their mother knew that Ferland was a huge risk to get another concussion. Well, Everyone except Jim Benning that is.

Dress 7 defenders, scratch Joshua.

Limit OEL's minutes. Hell limit Hughes minutes because it sure feels like he's rushing back to play against his brother.

(Man I hate how the site combines posts now if there isn't enough time between posting. This was two separate thoughts.)
