No. By 20 games this team has wasted another season and we stand a very real possibility that Hall wants out. And then the rebuild starts all over.

Eakins should be gone. He has no idea what he's doing. Just another flash in the pan AHL coaching star that can't cut in the NHL. MacT should swallow his pride and get it done. This team has regressed in every way since Eakins took over.

Nope. Every year this same thread pops up. 5% of the season has been wasted and probably 1-2 wins from some odd coaching/management decisions post training camp.

For every fan calling for Eakins to be fired, there's someone else that wants another 5 games or 20 in this instance. Everyone has a breaking point. We reached mine long ago. There is no pulling out of this nosedive. The sooner we eject the better.

Open question: would you rather the Oilers got it together over the next six games (say they win 5 of 6) to right the ship or go, say 0-4-2 and get Eakins canned?

I would give it 20 games if we weren't off to a worse start then last season. Calgary was our best game and we freaking lost 5-2...then 5-4 then 6-0 and then freaking what 7-3 to Arizona. One blow out game sure. But there has been 3 and only one of the teams was considered a good team

When you say right the ship you mean actually get better? I've seen nothing that points to that being the case. If we win 5 of 6 and still look brutal, get lucky, face weak goaltending i'd rather us lose Eakins.

Can i make a bet with someone to make me a pro-Eakins avatar if i'm wrong about this?

When we win the next 7 games all will be good don't worry!

To much of my happiness depends on this team for me to not be optomistic

Also maybe I'm crazy

I think Dallas Eakins is as good as gone. Craig Ramsay was brought in here for a reason and it's becoming clearer every game what that reason is. We can all scream and shout about weather he should get 20 games, or 10, or 5 but it really won't change a thing. MacT will eventually have to step up and face the masses.

Summer 2013 Dallas Eakins was a very sought after coach so more than just the Oilers thought he had some talent. Turns out they were wrong and I think Dallas has to admit he was wrong as well. He is not ready for the NHL, he gets out coached game after game, he seems to think he has a new system that will outsmart all the other teams, and on top of all that he seems to have an arrogant manner that most fans don't care for.

MacT for the most part has done a decent job. No he didn't land a 2nd line center but how do we know if players are beating down the door to join the Oilers. I think it's a tough sell to get anyone over here hence some of the recent contracts. But in staying with the thread, I'd say Eakins gets about 10 games max. By the end of this homestand if things haven't turned a 180 then I think Ramsay will be the head coach. Dallas and Acton will be gone, and I'd bet Ramsay can attract another older experienced coach or two over as his assistants.

Its the stupid Toronto bubble that created Eakins. These are the same talking heads that believe Stamkos is coming in 2016 Babcock next year and Thornton for some reason didnt get traded there this summer.

Eakins is another invention of the Toronto publicity machine and looks like MacT drank the koolaid while he was at Queens.

Ramsay as head coach and Nelson as his main assistant. Ramsay is a strong defensive and is great with coaching the pp. With the players we have it should be easy to have success in 5v5 scoring. Nelson has a knack for coaching the pk. Every player to come up from OKC has a pretty strong pk.

Get Cujo as a goalie coach or really just find someone who isn't Chabot.

If we want another assistant we should find an offensive specialist to help our players with learning when to shoot and when to pass, we have the natural skill to succeed just need a good push.

I will be the first to admit that start of this season has been very dis heartening, but, it is still just 4 games. Scrivens has been horrible but I think will get his game together. If the oilers are in the bottom 5 teams after 20 I will officially switch to the fire Lowe side of the fence. Let some one new in, clean house, out with Eakins and Lowe.

But, lets give it 20, it is just to soon to over react.

Well I'd say you are not the 1st to admit more like the 10,001st.

Just keep extending the deadline just like the oilers do and toss in some excuses like injures or such. Also adapt what you think is acceptable after 20 games.

Also why do you just say Eakins and Lowe? MacT is the new mastermind here. You need to embrace the line "Fire them all!"

You know a team that's not full of excuses and plays hockey without looking like they barely care, Calgary. They on paper should be worse then us easily, but in their current state would beat us the majority of times. We aren't even a low cost team, we are close to the damn cap

I wanted Eakins gone last season but if the team keeps this up we might as well keep him for all of this season. This was we at least get another high draft pick. Biggest mistake that Mac T has made was hiring Eakins. He might be the worst coach I've ever seen. Who uses training camp as a completion for the 12th forward and 7th defenceman spots? He doesn't line match during games and only focuses on offensive/defensive zone starts. He doesn't reward hot players or give less ice time to cold players. There's so much more but I'm gonna stop now.

Keep in mind it was Eakins who approached Mac T about Ramsay, not vice versa.

I have the pleasure to have Canes tix for next Friday, I'm hoping to see a new coach at that time.

This

Eakin is all "Toronto hype machine"

Todd Nelson did a better job IMO yet MacT was a fool and drank the kool-aid

It's been 86 games. 82 from last season and 4 from this season. So let's cut the "it's only been 4 games" bull ****, because it's dishonest and just not true. I've seen enough.

But don't worry; you'll get your 20 games (at least) anyway, because this team is led by a bunch of idiots who don't deserve their positions, from the top (Lowe) on down.

I haven't seen any progress. Show me the progress. Where is the progress after 86 ****ing games? We're actually allowing MORE goals than last year after 4 games with--on paper--better defensemen and better goalies. There is no progress. Look as hard as anyone wants, you wont find any. Reason enough to fire this walking mirage of lies, arrogance and deceit. You got fooled, MacT. Own it, fire his ass, and move on. Jesus Christ. Be a man and man up!

Calgary doesn't give up 5-star chances every game cause they play a system and stick to that system

their goalies are better cause they have an NHL defense...Gio and Brodie are light-years better than anything we have

If you read my post I did say the one caveat is that we give up a half dozen grade A's a game where I suspect Calgary does not.

If this team is winless in 10 I basically want Eakins to stay so we have a chance at McDavid. There is no hope for this team with 1/8th of the season gone so why finish 13th overall and miss out on him?
