Not much going on in the first half of the final day, Gladbach lead at Bremen which has permutations at both ends of the table as of now Gladbach has the final Euro spot while Bremen are hanging on to the relegation playoff spot on GD but if Koln beats Schalke they will be in trouble, Bielefeld still in the mix as well but currently holding Stuttgart (draw might not be enough for them though depending on Bremen/Koln results)

Bielefeld safe unless something crazy happens, the coaching change they made turned out to work despite being unpopular

Union still in the Euro hunt, not sure in it would be good for the BL coefficient though :sarcasm:

Of course the ESPN+ stream starts going to hell the moment the Koln game goes to a decisive phase. I guess having 10,000 instead of 2,000 people watching it makes the server load unbearable.

Bremen have no-one to blame but themselves. In some ways a logical conclusion of their steady decline over the last decade. Both Bremen + HSV in the 2.Liga has never happened before, and yet will be a reality next year.

Bremen, Schalke, and Hamburgs activity in the transfer market this past decade has been disgraceful. 3 big clubs with very bad squads. Schalke the worst of em all because their academy has produced very good players in that time.

Then and there
I had lost all hope when Köln's Andersson's goal was ruled out (he was onside by a good one meter, and the player ruled offside was 5 meters away from the ball and not affecting play). It seemed like so many other games this season, where they just can't find a way to score and are not getting any favours. It was a massive relief for them to hold on to the lead.

I never thought Bielefeld would stay up. While it's kind of sad to see them being relegated because of their history, Bremen has been flirting with relegation recently. They have some good players, who are clearly above the level of 2. BL so there'll probably be a sort of exodus now.

Lewa left it to the last minute of the season, but good to see him solely take the scoring record. If Muller is known as Der Bomber, will Lewa now be called Der Superbomber? Or is there some nice sounding Polish word for that?

Next Season 2. Bundesliga: Werder Bremen, Schalke 04, HSV, Fort. Düsseldorf, Hannover 96, 1. FC Nürnberg, FC St. Pauli, Dynamo Dresden, Hansa Rostock. Maybe Köln if they lost Relegation. ;)

10-man Furth come from behind twice to jump ahead of Kiel who lost at home. Bochum were the league winners
