If the top-6 is going to look like that in future, I hope they send Schmaltz to Rockford. That rookie-line just doesn't have it and their icetime is ridiculously small.

Schmaltz-JT-Panik
Party
Motte-Krüger-Hoss
Desjardins-Rasmussen-Hardman

If not, go after somebody or there will be time when Mashinter and Tootoo are going to play together.

It was very clear after this game that the problem is Toews himself and not the people around him. Guys like Kane, Hossa, Panarin, are just noticeable while Toews just cant do anything with the puck anymore.

Forget 2nd line. He's playing like a 1st line center as far as his numbers the past 6 games. (5+5, +8)

AA isn't pretty, but he gets the job done offensively. He's such a smart player. He is the perfect complement to Panarin and Kane. He knows when to stay in front / drive to the net to create spacing for his linemates. Now, if he could just win some more face offs.

Q needs to stop being Yoko. Don't break up the Beatles.

You know what player was solid last night and thus far this season

Rozy!

Rozy was pretty good on the PK last night ... but most importantly, our forwards got out and pressured the puck / got into the passing lanes. Hjarlmasson also blocked some shots.

But Crow was the reason we won last night. He was sensational.

Nope ,, All is fine

Stanley's team is wonderful!

Anisimov

2-1 Devils

And Anisimov loses faceoff and Devils clear puck

Terrible start to PP

He really did nothing there

All NHL players should be able to bury that

Panarin did all the work

Happy for W but this team is still deeply flawed

Time for Stanley to work phones

You know what player was solid last night and thus far this season

Rozy!

Gotta a good laugh when reading through this thread. Anyone see a pattern here? Almost every post by this guy (and there's plenty of them) is obviously agenda driven.

And the "Debbie Downers" sure come out of the wood work during the game. It's hilarious.

As someone already said... 2 points in October = mission accomplished on this night.

Toews is doing something with the puck, he's just not finishing. If you want to delve into his play ... you have to look at his possession numbers and creation of scoring opportunities.

Toews' possession numbers (which is his game) are fine and from the naked eye, he's creating scoring opportunities (at least far more than last year). The problem is his finishing. He's not coming close. Toews has to give himself a chance. Sometimes a lack of production happens due to luck. Sometimes a player runs into a hot goalie, hits the post, linemates can't finish / pass, etc. It's another when he completely misses the net or gets his shot consistently blocked. That's not luck, that's just bad finishing. He needs to rectify this.

Honestly though, how can you blame fans for complaining? Their performance has been a disaster thus far into the season. It was comedic that they pulled the win last night, Hossa and Panarin were the only forwards that showed up last night, Toews was once again Toews with no signs of improvement while throwing off the entire chemistry of the team.

What seems to be forgotten from all of you cynics is that there are 2 teams on the ice. NJ are anything but flashy but they are not a door mat team either. In fact, these days most NHL teams are competitive which means you can't take a night off. Hawks weren't great but they were good enough to win. The Hawks' PK looked a bit better and as a team they came on late in the game like they have done so many times in this era. I'll take the 2 points and look to Sunday.

Disaster is a ridiculous statement. The PK is a disaster yes, the rest of the play overall has been uninspiring but with all these rookies and new guys its understandable. If our record was 2-5-1 then I could go with disaster, but at 4-3-1 and 4-1-1 their last 6 games they are finding ways to win.

Complaining is one thing, taking everything you see and trying to shoe horn it into the same points BWC always try to make gets old.

Right. Being critical is fine. But when it comes to complaining and crying about every single tiny little thing, it gets old, really fast. Just enjoy that we got a win. Two points are two points. I don't give a **** how they get em as long as they get em. Once the PO's start, does it matter how, when, or why they win? Nope. Just that they win.

Odd you quote a goal that was 100% the fault of AA and a faceoff loss that cost Hawks a large chunk of PP time as they struggled to regain possession

AA did not play well despite OT goal. Reality was few did

Crawford and Panarin stole the game

It must be burning your butt that AA is Hawks leading scorer at the moment. Amazing considering he does so many things wrong, huh?

Uh, we can rather easily blame fans for complaining.

We're 10% of the way into the season.

The team is 4-1-1 in their last six games.

The team has been strong 5v5.

The team is integrating more rookies at one time than any point since 2008.

And all of this comes against the backdrop of a team that won 3 cups in 6 years.

It reeks of being a spoiled brat, not a concerned fan.

2 points is 2 points, but it would be nice and reassuring if they could just have one of those games they used to have where they go out and completely dominate a team in every facet. Not every night of course, but every once and a while it's a nice reminder to me that the Hawks are always capable of kicking the crap out of any team when they really put their minds to it. It has always been the mark of them being a Championship-caliber group in the past and it's tough to think of them as cup contenders if they don't ever show that they're capable of elevating their game collectively.

This team minus special teams is pretty damn solid.

This is a good point. If the Hawks PK #'ers were typical, the Hawks might be something like 7-1 or so.

That the bulk of the problems lie in a single area makes the solution easier. Fix the PK and the Hawks will be looking OK. They have not be pretty, or smooth or impressive in many areas... but in 5 on 5 they have been solid.

Even in 2015 they didn't really do that much, though.

I don't particularly think this is a championship caliber team. But it is a playoff team if they get their PK in order.

So you saying Stanley has turned a power into above average team with no title hopes?

So you acknowledge that our declining core may just have had its contending window shut prematurely because of Stanley's blunders?

Sounds like reasonable grounds for termination of Stanley's tenure as GM
